Nice open location for this spacious, quiet, three bedroom apartment which overlooks the tree-lined Rambla El Espinar, just 8 minutes walk from the beach. The apartment has all the amenities you need, a large balcony for eating al fresco, easy car parking, close to the shops, but none of the noise associated with a sometimes busy seaside resort.

La Herradura is a charming resort, with a long beach and beautiful clear sea. Some areas of the beach have plenty of bars and chiringuitos, other areas are much quieter.

Well known as a friendly resort attracting a mix of nationalities, La Herradura has a cultural and activities programme which belies it´s size, including the annual Segovia festival of guitar, watersports, scuba diving and organised beach clubs for kids and teenagers. The apartment is not right on the seafront nor does it have that price-tag. It is in a quiet location a short walk away from Dia supermarket and a range of bars and other shops. There is lift access to the apartment and entrances from two streets (a choice of car parking).

WiFi internet is available on request, and in addition there is a friendly internet cafe just 5 minutes walk away.

The town has a good connecting bus service to Malaga, Nerja and Almuñecar. There are plenty enough shops, restaurants and other services to mean you do not need a car.

The apartment includes a modern fully-equipped kitchen, lift access, easy car parking and overhead fans. The terrace has table and seating for six. There are two double bedrooms and one bedroom with two single beds.

The Andalucia region

Granada is the capital of the province with the same name, situated in the eastern part of the region of Andalusia. Geographical and scenic diversity charactizes the land. There is the coastal area with its warm climate; the extensive, fertile Genil plain; and the mountainous regions with a colder climate, where we find the 3,481 meter Mulhacén, the biggest peak on the peninsula of Spain. The city of Granada is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains at the confluences of the Darro and Genil rivers. Its unique history has bestowed it with an artistic grandeur embracing Moorish palaces and Christian Renaissance treasures. As the last Moorish capital on the Iberian peninsula, it also holds great symbolic value.

La Herradura

The apartment is well positioned for access to the old coast road, which enables you to drive to Malaga or Granada in less than an hour in each direction. Nearby there is also the Peña Escrita country park, Marina del Este (a lovely area to walk and look at the yachts), and the town of Almunecar, featuring a dramatic Moorish castle perched on the edge of a hill overlooking the sea.

Other attractions include Almuñecar Old Town (a great shopping and rambling area), the "Loro Sexi" bird park, the Parque el Majuelo with its Roman fish salting works, and Playa del Altillo with its wonderful sculptures along the promenade.

All of Granada's attractions are within easy reach of the house, as are the various beaches and resorts of the Costa Tropical. Last but not least, the south facing villages of the Sierra Nevada are also a short drive away. This area, known as the Alpujarra, has been written about by Gerald Brenan ("South from Granada") and Chris Stewart ("Driving Over Lemons").

"Great apartment and Great Location"

My husband, two kids and I stayed in La Herradura for 5 days before moving on to Tim's other apartment in Taramay. This was an excellent way to see two different areas. The location of the apartment is great with a little grocery shop right across the road and the beach only about a 5 minute walk. La Herradura itself is lovely and friendly. The beach is beautiful and we found some fantastic restaurants. There is a small castle and plenty of little shops dotted around. Every night we walked through the old town on little cobbled streets. I would highly recommend this apartment/area and especially dividing the holiday into two parts. It was an adventure and we are looking forward to going back!!!
