The Costa Tropical/Granada region
La Herradura is a horseshoe bay ideal for fishing, scuba diving and other water sports. Close to the Alpujarras area (famous book - Driving over Lemons). Still very spanish and the only area in Spain with tropical fruit (hence the Costa Tropical title!). No large apartment blocks (building restrictions apply to 4 stories only), with fantastic views.
La Herradura / Rosa Nautica area
La Herradura is between the popular resort of Nerja (voted holiday resort of the year in 2002) and Almunecar which has the fantastic weekly market and shopping area (including McDonalds for the children!). La Herradura has lots of local activities and others close by:
Watersports Waterpark (in Almunecar - next town). Weekly market (again in Almunecar) Daily market in La Herradura Tennis (La Herradura) Horse Riding Golf (approx 30 mins away) Fishing Skiing (months Nov - Apr) in Sierra Nevada Large children's play area with lots of children's rides etc Football/baseball area on the beach
How to get there
Fly to Malaga/Granada/Almeria airport and take a bus to the main bus station, followed by a local bus to La Herradura. or Hire a car from the airport or by internet - Hertz/Economy Car Hire/Holiday Autos or Europcar are reliable companies. or Take a taxi although this could prove quite costly.

Further details outdoors: We are located in a beautiful Spanish village in the Costa Tropical region of Andalucia called La Herradura, located between Nerja and Almuñecar on The Costa Del Sol. La Herradura is one of the few remaining unspoilt villages on the Costa Del Sol that can offer a truly Spanish experience in a tranquil environment. La Herradura derives its name from 'The Horseshoe' describing the bay between the two headlands, the Cerro Gordo and the Punta Del La Mona, these are interposed by a mile of beach. The town is situated on the beach road with many outside bars and restaurants as well as two Scuba diving schools. Water sports, tennis, walking, sailing, horse riding and hang gliding are some of the many activities that are available. Three golf courses are within a ½ hour drive. An Aqua Park is only 10 mins away. There is also skiing on the Sierra Nevada in the winter, which is close to Granada and is approximately a 1 hour driveaway. It is approximately one hour from Malaga airport, one hour from Granada airport (flights from Gatwick, Stansted and Liverpool), 15 minutes from Nerja, and 10 minutes from the beautiful town of Almunecar with its castle, roman ruins, winding streets and popular Friday market. There is a large everyday market for fresh food and a lovely combination of traditional Spanish local bars (incredible tapas and value for money) and more modern resort attractions. A very picturesque marina is very close by. The area has many excellent restaurants, bars, banks, supermarkets (small), medical services, pharmacy, bookshop, hairdressers etc. but does not have a frantic nightlife! A newly built large play area for children as well as football/baseball court on the beach for the older child!

£50 deposit required with outstanding balance 6 weeks before arrival.
A one-off payment of 40 euros to be paid on arrival to Susi to cover cleaning costs. Susi will hand over the key for both the apartment and for the car park on arrival.
Arrival after 1.00pm and depature from apartment before 10.00am to allow for cleaning of apartment for next visitors.
