About the home

Beautiful villa with a private swimming pool 2 Km from La Herradura, a residential area very near to Almuñecar, 55 minutes' drive from Malaga Airport. The weather is excellent all year long (about 18º in winter and 25º in summer). The house is surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden with a 50 m2 swimming pool, porch with BBQ, ping-pong table, solarium and deck chairs.

The area is very quiet and the views over the bay and the picturesque fishing village are beautiful. 180-degree views allow you to contemplate miles and miles of the coastline from East to West with unforgettable sunrises and sunsets.... It is very close to the beach, the golf courses and a luxury marina called Marina del Este. It is also perfect for visiting all the area: Granada, Málaga, Marbella... You just have to see it, you will love it.

Apart from the living room with open fire, there are two dining rooms: one next to the kitchen and another one beside the porch and BBQ area. You can see the pool from this dining room.

The Costa Tropical region

The term “Costa Tropical” is well deserved, as the sun shines for longer here than anywhere else in Europe, bringing almost tropical warmth and light to the whole area. Winters are short and summers long, while autumn and spring are often delightful. Almuñécar, in fact, enjoys a unique microclimate which has led to its being known as the Tropical Coast, though the climate is more exactly subtropical, as humidity is very low. Pleasant sea breezes refresh the heat of high summer, while the mountains parallel to the coast protect it from the cold northern winds. The Mediterranean, itself, serves as a thermostat, regulating and moderating brusque changes in temperature. In other words, the climate here is very mild and temperatures moderate.

In the winter season, temperatures rarely fall below 10-12°C, the average being around 18°C. In summer, this rises to about 25°C, with midday maximums of 30°C, though these are greatly alleviated by the sea breezes.

The effects of this marvellous climate are immediately apparent: the markets are full of delicious, exotic fruits and vegetables and flowers carpet the mountain sides while, not very far north, ice and snow cover the ground. Here, the first flowers appear on the almond trees before Christmas.

The La Herradura / Punta de la Mona area

La Herradura is a quaint little fishing village built around a horseshoe shaped bay. The town's beach offers over a kilometres of golden sands. If you choose to venture outside the town in search of more peace and quiet, there is a wide variety of beaches to choose from in the surrounding area. The beach at La Herradura offers water sports for the more active, while those in search of a more sedate holiday experience will find a beautiful marina (Marina del Este) and many excellent restaurants to suit every palate.

Further afield, all of the principal attractions of the Costa del Sol and Andalucia are close at hand. We are 50 minutes' drive from the vibrant costal ciity of Malaga and one and a half hours from Marbella. Nerja is 15 minutes away, while the lovely historic town of Alumunecar, offering a castle, Roman ruins and winding streets just waiting to be explored, as well as a popular Friday market, is just 10 minutes from here. The breathtakingly beautiful city of Granada with its legendary Alhambra palace is just one hour away, and from Granada you can explore the whitewashed villages of the Alpujarras or - in winter - ski in the snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada.

Fly to Málaga. You can rent a car at the airport. Drive to the East. La Herradura is the first coast village you find when you get to Granada province.
