There are a wide range of activities available in the area including watersports, riding and walking in beautiful natural parks, the Alpujarras and the Sierra Nevada. The beach area and village has a good selection of children's play areas as well. An ideal area for a relaxing holiday, experiencing traditional Spanish lifestyle.

The kitchen is well equipped with ELECTRIC oven and ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and a good range of crockery, cutlery, pots, pans etc., and a small kitchen table. There is a utility area off the kitchen with automatic washing machine, clothes drier and ELECTRIC hot water boiler (No Gas Bottles to Change!). Spacious living room/dining area with large corner sofa unit, coffee table, dining table and chairs, sideboard unit with Television, and DVD / CD player with radio, patio doors leading to balcony with village and sea views equipped with patio table and chairs. Very spacious double bedroom with large double wardrobe and dressing table / drawers with mirror, the second large bedroom has twin beds and a high quality large double fronted fitted wardrobe. There is a bathroom with bath and shower over, washbasin, toilet and bidet. Also a separate shower room with toilet and washbasin.
Sun loungers are available on our roof terrace area.

There is your own roof terrace area with sun loungers for sunbathing if you do not want to bother going to the beach.
There are a good range of shops, banks, chemist, dentist and health centre, daily fresh food market, bakery, bars and restaurants, all within easy walking distance in the village. The beach, with a wide range of watersports, is just 300 yards away (5 / 6 minutes walk). Good diving facilities are also available from the beach - this is a popular and extremely good diving area. Golf is available either at Salobrena, 15 minutes drive or at Baviara Golf, 25 minutes drive.
We are 15 minutes from Nerja, and 10 minutes from the beautiful traditional Spanish town of Almunecar with its castle, roman ruins, winding streets and the popular Friday open market. There is a large everyday market for fresh food and a lovely combination of traditional Spanish local bars (incredible tapas and value for money) and more modern resort attractions.
The very picturesque Marina del Este is very close by.
A good location for couples and families.
Within walking distance of beach, shops, and beachfront or village restaurants. Due to the sloping/cobbled streets surrounding some of the old part of the village, the area may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties.
Passenger lift access to the three floors and vehicle lift down to the garage underground safe parking.
The Andalucia region
La Herradura (translated as the horseshoe) lies on a beautiful curved bay between the headlands of Cerro Gordo to the west and Punta de la Mona to the east, on the Costa Tropical. This relatively unknown stretch of the costline of Andalucia just east of the busier Costa del Sol, is characterised by the rugged hills and deep ravines behind, with small villages sheltering in the valleys or clinging to the hillsides, with the Pena Escrita national park overlooking La Herradura. Above everything tower the Sierra Nevada, the highest peaks in Spain. La Herradura boasts some 320 days of sunshine a year and is one of the few places where one can ski in the morning (on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada, 75minutes drive) and sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon.
La Herradura, whilst relatively small, does have a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants including a daily fresh meat, fish and vegetable market, supermarkets, baker, banks, chemists, hairdressers etc. Many of the bars and restaurants are situated either on or close to the beach making this the ideal place to idle your days away relaxing in the sunshine. For the more active there is a wide range of watersports including water skiing, sailing, windsurfing and scuba diving; tennis, hang gliding and horse riding are also available in the village.
Almunecar is just a 10 mins drive away, a thriving spanish town,with its own castle,bird park and Friday market,. The famous slopes of Sierra Nevada are close by and open up until May. The Alpujarres, half an hours drive away for keen walkers . Granada a beautiful moorish town, with the Alhambra Palace which should not be missed is only 1 hours drive. Not forgetting Nerja for its famous caves, 'Balcon de Europe' and night life just 15 mins drive away. and the old quaint Spanish village of Frigiliana, up behind Nerja.

"Wonderful time in La Herradura"
Just returned from a wonderful 11 day holiday in La Herradura. It was our second visit to The Costa Tropical and was even better than we remembered.
The apartment was extremely spacious, very clean and very well equipped. Marvellous views from the balcony over the town, sea and mountains. What more could anyone want! Except of course a nice bottle of wine whilst taking it all in!
The sun terrace was a lovely place to laze for an hour or two in the early morning before the sun became too hot.
Roy and Kath were very helpful from the moment we enquired about booking their apartment. They gave us lots of information about the town and even supplied a cd with directions from the airport.
La Herradura and the local people are lovely. It is a small town but with lots to see and do. Great walking area but if you have a hire car you can take yourself up to the villages in the moutains. However, the roads are not for the faint hearted! Some of them get quite high but the views are amazing.
We would highly recommend this property as a base for a holiday in this area
and hope to be back ourselves sometime in the near future.

"Fantastic apartment and resort"
Just back from this wonderful apartment which was extremely spacious and had stunning views. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need (except the chef!) plus two bathrooms. The main bedroom was huge and the lounge very comfortable. The patio overlooked La Herradura bay and although a bit obscured by next doors attempt at some privacy it was still beautiful. The ONLY downside to having such a good view was the steps leading from the town to the apartment - it is very steep but a small price to pay. My thanks to the owners for their excellent directions to the apartment and for the information about the surrounding area which helped us to enjoy it more. We loved La Herradura and this accomodation and will definitely be coming back to stay again very soon.

It was really nice to stay in el mirador de la bahia. Can't remember whether the ad mentioned it but there are two bathrooms, which was a bonus for us. The kitchen is well equipped and the flat overall is very spacious. The only disappointment was that the view from the balcony was slightly obscured by a spiteful neighbour who had put up a grid, presumably to protect his own privacy but to the detriment of the view from the balcony. Very central in the "historical" part of La Herradura and a short walk to the beach.
