About this location
The Brittany region
Where the house is situated is called 'The Granite Coast' with many beaches close by, It is also very near & central to no less than 3 great International Standard Golf Courses Golf Des Ormes, Val D'Andre at Dinard St Malo & Le Tronchet..these International Standard Golf Courses welcome visitors and the Green Fees are very reasonable. The house is in a Rural Village. There is a restaurant, Bakery, Hairdressers a Bar Tabac and a Post office in the Village. There is an Equestrian Centre where you can hire horses and take a trail along some of the beaches. They ride past the house daily We are near to a 'Supermarket' and there are many lovely walks to be taken.
The most visited place is Mont St Michel which is 30 mins Drive, but also there is Dinan, Dinard, Dol de Brtagne St Malo and St Servan. All of these Towns have 'The French Markets' where you can buy fresh produce, meat, oysters. lobsters and whelks (please note:: these are fresh and have to be cooked) Most markets close by 1pm but are well worth visiting and practicing your 'French'!
For those who just want to laze on the beach its perfect with soft lovely golden sand and very shallow water (ideal for children) and most are near a Bar if you get thirsty !
The Area is Ville et Vilaine which is mainly Rural. It is just 4k mins from the nearest beach. The River Rance where you can hire boats or go on one of the boat trips, is nearby and the area has many Medieval Towns, some dating back to the 11th Century. The streets in many places are cobbled and, as I have said before, most have Market Days (a list of these are in the house) In St Malo in front of the 'Hotel de Ville' all the Artistes congregate. You can have your portrait painted, buy paintings or just sit in one of the Restaurant/Bars and be entertained. Also not to be missed are the Ramparts which you can walk round the whole of the walled City of St Malo and look down into the City or look over to the inner and outer harbours. This is where Brittany Ferry's and The Condor sail into. On a clear day you can see Jersey. You can even take a trip over to Jersey and Guernsey from the Harbour
At Cancale you can visit the boutiques, restaurant's or sit on the sea wall and eat a plate of Oysters with a glass of wine. Not bad hey! .
