The Provence region

The Var department is situated west of its famous neighbour Côte d’Azur. With its beautiful landscape with both mountains and sea and its sunny Mediterranean weather it is a popular holiday destination all year round.

Along its 300-km long coast, you will find some stylish seaside resorts like glitzy St Tropez and Ste Maxime, as well as some smaller but equally beautiful and charming resorts like Bandol or Le Lavandou.

The beautiful Iles d'Or (Porquerolles, Ile du Levant and Pors Cros) are also well worth a visit and can be reached by boat from La Tour Fondue near Hyères. Inland, you will find delightful and unspoilt hilltop villages and further to the north, the breathtaking Gorges du Verdon with its many water sports and activities.

La Garde

Situated in the village of La Garde, a charming medieval village with much character, wrapped around a rocky peak between Mount Coudon and the Mediterranean coast. La Garde coastline is complete with nice beaches and charming inlets surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, including the resort of Le Pradet just 5 km away.

Ideally situated just 6 km from Toulon, an arty town with old quarter housing ancient fountains and typically colourful Provencal markets.

The military port, is also home to luxury yachts and is the gateway to Corsica and Sardinia.

Mourillon, a few minutes from the centre of town offers 20 hectares of sandy beaches with countless water sports activities.


Hyères. 14 km. Attractive seaside resort with walled and medieval centre, once the favourite summer resort of celebrities, some of the intellectual elite and the rich. The town and its peninsula have almost 40 km of pristine sand beaches and rocky inlets to offer.

Iles d'Hyères. 35 km. Group of islands off the coast from Hyères, which includes the islands of Porquerolles, Le Levant and Port Cros (National Park). The 3 car-free islands together form a rare and beautiful environment, one of the loveliest in France. Boat crossings from Hyères, Giens peninsula, Le Lavandou, Toulon.

Sanary sur Mer. 20 km. Delightful seaside resort with picturesque quay, colourful houses, lively streets and terraces shaded by palm trees. Beautiful views from its 16th century Chapel Notre Dame de Pitié, over the coast and the small islands that lie offshore.

Bormes les Mimosas. 35 km. Beautiful and picturesque medieval village set in the hills above the coast.


Zoo du Mont Faron, Toulon. 12 km. Animal park. A unique centre and wildlife breeding conservatory specialising particularly in big cats.

Magic World, Hyères. 20 km. Theme park. Fun park with many rides and different attractions for the whole family.

Kiddy Park, Hyères. 20 km. Theme park. 3 hectares of fun dedicated to 2 to 12 yrs old, situated 500m from Hyères harbour. Merry-go-rounds, slides, animals, bouncy castles, games, go-karts, trampolines, ball pool, etc...

Jardin d'Oiseaux Exotiques, La Londe les Maures. 25 km. Animal park. Bird sanctuary and botanical gardens offering visitors an unequalled collection of exotic birds and rare plants. The animal collection is unique for the rarity of its birds. In total, 450 birds with 80 species from Asia, Africa and South America.


Bandol. 25 km. Family seaside resort tucked in a cove between La Ciotat and Toulon. A vibrant harbour packed with fine shops and restaurants as well as a casino. Also renowned for its vineyards producing some of the best wines on the coast.

Le Castellet. 30 km. A stunning medieval hill top village in a typical Provencal and picturesque setting, and one of the area's top tourist attractions. Also famous for its Paul Ricard race track.

La Ciotat. 45 km. Delightful seaside resort with excellent beach, fabulous rocky inlets, old picturesque fishing port and great Mediterranean atmosphere.

St Tropez. 65 km. Authentic fishing village but also trendy and glamorous seaside resort and favourite holiday spot for the rich and famous. Fantastic night life, exquisite restaurants, chic boutiques, delightful old quarters, glorious beaches including the famous 5 km-long Plage de Pampelonne.
