Le Mel
About the home
Enjoying lovely views across a valley, with a two-thirds of an acre garden and swimming pool, this former farmhouse and adjoining barn has been refurbished into a delightful and substantial holiday home. Enjoying a quiet, rural location on the edge of the farming hamlet of Trebessac deep in the Aveyron countryside, the 5-bedroomed house makes an ideal place for two to three families to enjoy a classic French country holiday. Walking, cycling and fishing opportunities abound and the house is ideally situated for local amenities.
Trebessac is just 3 kilometers from the town of La Fouillade, and a 20 minute drive from the vibrant market town of Villefranche de Rourgue. The spectacular medieval towns of Najac and Cordes-sur-ciel are just 10 minutes and 30 minutes away respectively. The increasingly fashionable St Antonin Noble Val with its famous Sunday market is a beautiful 40-minute drive from Trebessac. The vineyards of Cahors and Gaillac can both be reached within an hour and, as Aveyron has more ‘Plus beaux villages’ than any other department in France, beautiful villages are always nearby.

The Midi-Pyrenees / Aveyron region
Aveyron is still regarded as something of 'an undiscovered gem' - a beautiful rolling landscape dotted with historic and beatutiful towns and villages.
The La Fouillade area
La Fouillade area
Set in an area with numerous medieval villages, famous bastide towns, chateaux, churches, deep river gorges and spectacular views across the plateaux.
A large range of restaurants from basic bistro to gastronomic sophistication are nearby, as are small supermarkets to major hypermarkets.
ACTIVITIES
Horse riding, canoeing, fishing, rail trips, rock climbing, wine tasting, museums, pot-holing, tennis and of course walking. Four cycles including children’s sizes are provided free of charge. Golf is available at Albi (18-hole delightful course – one of ‘Europe’s Top 500) approximately 60 minutes by car and there is a championship course at Rodez 50 minutes away. A well-kept 9-hole pitch and putt course is just 20 minutes away at Villefranche. Albi has a water-park for children and just north of Albi is the spectacular Cap Decouvert water sports centre set deep in a former quarry. And no vist to the region is complete without an excursion by canoe through the Aveyron Gorge beneath the stunning views of Najac Castle.
EXCURSIONS BY CAR
The area is delightful for driving around; the roads are good and the traffic is light. Cordes, Albi, Najac, Figeac, Cahors, Rodez are all worth a trip, as are smaller villages such as Bruniquel, Penne, Salveterre and Bocastel. For the more adventurous, drive over the Millau viaduct and through the Tarn Gorges down to the coast by Montpellier which is two and a half hours away.

Guestbook for Le Mel
We had a fantastic stay at your lovely house in Trebessac. What was particularly good was having use of kayaks, bicycles, books and games it truly felt like a home from home. The barbeque and the pool were well used enabling us to be outside lapping up the sun for most of the holiday.
The area your house is in is beautiful with so much to see and do; the highlight being St Cirque Lagapopie which was simply stunning.
Alison & David Cronk, Summer 2011
We were delighted with our stay at Trebessac. We rented it for my father's 80th birthday and had a wonderful gathering of all the family, old and young and middle-aged, and it was the perfect place for us all to stay. Enough chairs to seat people at mealtimes, both outside near the barbecue and inside in the dining room. And the pool and garden are lovely too. I'd thoroughly recommend Le Mel.
