The location of the house is central and yet tranquil and is the ideal base from which to explore the delights of the island.

The house is just 40 metres from the seashore, ideal for beachcombing and 500m from the year round food market, port and the many shops, restaurants and galleries in the centre of the village! The sandy town beach is approximately 1 km away.

Set within a gated domaine of four individual houses with their own entrance and parking facilities, our holiday home is located in an enviable and tranquil area of la Flotte.

The house is beautifully appointed and excellently equipped with large paved and decked terraces and a lawned area.

There is also an extendable kitchen table with chairs. Filtered water tap, coffee machine, kettle, toaster, hand blender.

All fixtures, fittings, kitchen equipment including bone china, cutlery and glass are brand new.

The kitchen opens onto a large south west facing paved terrace via a pair of full height pocket glass sliding doors which open completely - perfect for relaxing and al fresco dining.

10 x 5m swimming pool with natural chlorine system with an automated submersible security cover

IMPORTANT NOTE

The swimming pool is deep at both ends being 1m 30 is the shallow end and over 2m at the deep end. IT IS THEREFORE NOT SUITABLE FOR UNACCOMPANIED YOUNG CHILDREN.

The poorhouse is adjacent to the pool and houses the pool utilities, it is kept locked at all times and not accessible during rentals except during maintenance by Vert Marine.

The house has a gated drive way and separate door with private parking for a family car further parking is available locally - we recommend flying and if necessary hiring a small car for longer outings since cycling is the preferred mode of transport on the island and everything is just a short stroll away.

Numero Neuf is only a moment from the sea and a pebble beach at low tide; the nearest sandy beach is the La Flotte town beach 1km away; there are numerous beautiful sandy beaches a short bike ride or car journey away.

Cycling is probably the most enjoyable way to enjoy Ile de Re, there are however, many other pursuits to discover such as surfing, wind and kite surfing, water skiing, sailing, horse riding, golf, fishing, tennis, and kite flying.

Not to mention the many markets, galleries, restaurants and shops in La Flotte and the beautiful neighbouring town of Saint Martin. Further afield you can visit the Phare and explore some of the other delightful villages on the island.

At low tide you can be on the pebble beach within a seconds of leaving the front door, enjoying a paddle or a swim or perhaps some fishing and beachcombing.

For the more adventurous the ecole de voile is only a minutes walk from the house offering numerous facilities for all age groups of sailors.

The Poitou-Charentes region

The area of Charente Maritime is on the Atlantic coast most famous for its salt marshes and sandy beaches. La Rochelle is a bustling fortified town with a wealth of recreational activities including an aquarium, it boasts fantastic quayside restaurants and super shopping.

La Rochelle is 10 minutes from Ile de Re by car. The climate is reliable and warm in summer and whilst temperatures will drop in Autumn it will remain reliably sunny.

La Flotte en Re

Ile de Re is a beautiful island. It measures 100m at its narrowest point and 15 km in length. It rests off the coast of La Rochelle connected by a 3km toll bridge; the island is dotted with nature reserves and therefore home to a wide variety of plant and wildlife.

It is protected from agressive new building and the villages therefore retain their original character - features have remained unaltered for centuries. The island is particularly famous for its salt, oysters and potatoes - local produce is invariably used in many of the islands restaurants.

Although a natural haven for watersports enthusiasts, there are many other activities readily available - particularly cycling since the dedicated cycle paths link all 10 main villages on the island together making it a safe and pleasurable activity for family outings. (The island is mainly flat so there are few uphill struggles!) You can hire bicycles, child seats, carriages in a multitude of rental shops on the island.

La Flotte is a charming large village with a bustling centre and picture postcard harbour. All facilities in the village are within walking distance from the house and whilst the thermometer may drop at the end of September there is still a lot of sunshine throughout the year to enjoy.
