La Pomme d'Or
from £72 /night help
Gite | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 9
La Pomme d'Or means the Golden Apple. In the eighteenth and nineteenth century La Pomme d'Or was a humble farm.
Today the property consists of three buildings - The Guesthouse, The Stable and The Gatehouse. The oldest building is The Guesthouse. It is a charming rustic house where the farmer lived with his family. The Stable is the original barn. It has been converted into a modern studio. The Stable also houses a small art gallery, which we call The Barn. The Gatehouse is a nineteenth century addition to the property.
The Guesthouse is the largest of our available accommodation. It is a spacious 120 square metres and sleeps up to nine guests. There is a cosy and roomy kitchen totally renovated in spring 2014. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to prepare meals, an induction hob and an oven, refrigerator /freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee maker and all other essential cooking and dining items. There is also a washing machine in the kitchen. For cosy dining there is a big dining table and chairs and a woodburning stove.

The Poitou-Charentes region
The towns and villages of the Poitou-Charentes region are steeped in history and culture. Situated in the mid-west part of France and south of the Loire valley makes the climate mild and it has a lot of sun, 2400 sunshine houres a year.
With just a short car drive from La Pomme d'Or you can find a lot to do for the whole family. The little medievial town of Chauvigny just 10 km from us is a little gem with a medieval part and 2 romanesque churches.
The region is the heart of the agricultural district of France with many producers of goats milk cheeses and the Chabichou is considered to be the best chevre in the country.
The city of Poititers offers you 2000 years of art and history, beautiful churches, wonderful parks and fabulous shopping through pedestrian streets in the centre.
Perhaps you would like to make a longer excursion. The castles ad vineyards of the Loire Valley are about a hours drive away. We can recommend a journey to Cognac. It is about 150 km to Cognac as it is to the Atlantic coast. At the coast you will find La Rochelle one of France's largest seaports, almost 1000 years old. At the coast you can also find the islands Ile d'Oleron and Ile de Re with long beaches and clam and oyster farms.
La Pomme d'Or is located in the village of La Chapelle Mouliere in the departement of Vienne. Around us there are gourgeous surroundings, the river Vienne (which the departement is named after) Mouliere forest, picturesque villages like l'Anglin sur Angles, Bonneuil-Matours, Morthemer and cities as Chauvigny, Poitiers and Chatellerault.
Every year 3 million people visits the 2 hectare film- and activity park Le Futuruscope. In 2012 the park celebrated 25 years and offers the whole family entertainment and an exciting experience with shows and films. Don't miss the spectacular evening show, which ends the day.
