La Chapelle D’Abondance is a traditional Savoyard village, close to the Swiss border. There are various shops, a tourist information centre, cafes, bars, pharmacy,supermarket,cinema and many superb restaurants within a few minutes walk from our apartment. The village is a beautiful location for your Alpine escape in both summer for walking,climbing, white water rafting, fishing and horse riding, and in the winter for all of the winter sports.
The local ski domain with ski school is within walking distance from the apartment, where the slopes are perfect for beginners and intermediates. La Panthiaz gondola gives you direct access to the Porte du Soleil ski domain and is only 5 min by ski bus, which stops very close to the apartment. La Chapelle offers you the best of both worlds - extensive skiing in winter and stunning and varied walks in summer. La Chapelle allows easy access to both the Swiss and French sides of the Porte du Soleil, which includes the resorts of Châtel, Les Gets, Morgins, Avoriaz and Morzine.
From the apartment you can access the full 650km range of skiing, which has 289 pistes, 208 ski lifts, 51km of cross country trails and 40kms of waymarked winter walks. Nearest large ski resort: La Châtel 5km away. The resort offers the perfect balance for both young skiers/boarders and families with young children, as the slopes are as challenging as you wish to make them.

There are 3 double bedrooms which can easily be made into 3 twin rooms with plenty of storage space. The open plan lounge has a large wood burning stove (logs available locally), two large leather sofas, a long dining table which will seat 7 comfortably and a 32" tv with English Channels. A modern kitchen with dishwasher and electric cooker completes the contempory design. There is a garage and ski locker on the ground floor

The apartment is part of a new complex in a quiet area just off the main road. There is a ski hire and outdoor equipment shop only 1 minute away. The modern apartment has lift access and large south facing balcony with outside dining table.
Rent is normally Saturday to Saturday (depart by 11.00am) but this is open to negotiation. A Deposit of 20% of the rent is due in advance to confirm the booking, then the remainder of the rent as shown below is due six weeks before start of rental date.
As this is a home that we are renting I am afraid that no Smoking is allowed.
Small hand towels and tea towels are included but we require you to take your own bath towels. Bed linen and cleaning costs are included, however, we ask that you leave the apartment in a clean and tidy state by 11.00am on the day of departure. A full information pack will be sent to you on receipt of deposit.
The Rhone/French Alps region
La Chapelle lies at the end of the beautiful Abondance valley, which runs from Thonon on Lake Geneva to Chatel on the Swiss border. The summers are warm and sunny, the winters are beautiful with a good snow record. The Portes du Soleil ski area is one of Europes best and biggest, so big, the piste map is contained in five booklets.
The views of the Dents du Midi and Mont Blanc itself form a dramatic backdrop to skiing in winter, with mountain biking and hiking in the summer and autumn. The Swiss cities of Montreaux, Lausanne and Geneva are all within easy reach for day trips as are the beautiful towns of Annecy and Chamonix. A little further afield are the Italian lakes and the internationally renowned resorts of Zermatt and Verbier.
The area is easily accessed by an extensive motorway system and several airports including Geneva, Chambery and Basle.
The restaurants in the Village and on the slopes, are second to none in the whole of the Alps. The Apartment is an ideal base to explore the whole of the northern Alps, Switzerland and Northern Italy. Car hire is advisable, but there are regular local buses if required.
The lakeside towns of Evian, Thonon and Yvoire are great places to shop and have their own beaches. Annecy, Yvoire and Chamonix are within two hours drive, but the local villages are equally attractive. They all have retained their rustic charms, with many summer fetes and festivals. Fishing is available in the local lakes and in Lake Geneva. Abondance itself is five minutes away by car and is the home of a famous Abbey and the local cheese.
If all this leisure proves too relaxing, you can get your adrenalin rush by walking, climbing, rafting, horse riding and for real thrill seekers there is the high wire Fantasticable ride. All these are within a few minutes of the Apartment. It really is a unique place, retaining its relaxing French charm and friendly atmosphere.
