Completed in 2010, Les Fermes de Jules is one of two chalet buildings housing a small number of luxury apartments. Built in a traditional style but incorporating the latest technology to provide a secure, cosy home with wonderful views in a quiet yet accessible location.
Situated next to the church in the centre of the village, less than a minutes walk to the shops. In summer you can relax on the balcony listening to the tinkling of the cows as they graze in the meadow in front of the apartment. In winter watch the skiers on the local slope or the husky dogs pulling their sleds vying for space with the cross-country skiers.

The apartment has underfloor heating and is furnished in a relaxed but luxurious style. With firm but comfortable beds, dressed in beautiful soft bedding, and thick cosy towels to encase you after that long lingering soak, or hot steamy shower.
The living area has a very spacious and contemporary feel to it with a soft leather L shaped sofa bed, relaxing chairs and a stunning glass table and chairs. The kitchen is cleverly fitted in white gloss units with contrasting dark worktops providing all the essentials you need in a very workable design. Equipment includes a fridge/freezer, oven, hob, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. A comprehensive range of smaller equipment and tools fills the drawers to ensure you have everything necessary to feel at home. As well as a TV with both English and French channels, we have a DVD, CD, radio and I-pod dock, there is also a telephone with free calls to English landlines to complete the luxuries. We cannot list everything but as this is our second home we've tried to ensure absolutely everything you need is to hand, including walking poles and rucksack!

The corner balcony affords wonderful views in all directions and ensures sunshine all day long. It is well equipped with a table and four comfortable chairs and two relaxer chairs with footstools. Some candles, for that romantic lighting. (There are two outside electric lights as well) and a secure underground garage, complete with 2 sledges for the adventurous among you!

The Rhone/French Alps region
This area of the Rhone Alps (The Abondance Valley) is famed for it's beautiful scenery. Half an hour in the car and you can be on the beach at Thonon-les-Bains on Lake Geneva. Here you can sail, shop in the medieval town centre or have supper by the waterfront. Ten minutes drive along the lake brings you to the pretty town of Evian, famous for its spa water. Another 20 minutes and you’re in Geneva itself where you can shop till you drop in the designer boutiques or sit back and watch the world go by on one of the paddle steamer trips.
In the other direction (through Chatel) you are just 20 minutes drive over the mountains to Switzerland. There are lots of pretty villages and interesting towns within easy reach. Montreaux is worth a visit with a pretty waterfront and beautiful situation with the mountains as a backdrop – don’t forget to visit the statue of Freddie Mercury in his beloved town.
Further afield but still within a couple of hours you can visit Chamonix and Mont Blanc and the beautiful towns of Annecy and Lausanne.
La Chapelle is an unspoilt traditional Savoyard village in the heart of the Port du Soleil ski area. With a varied selection of shops, bars, restaurants, tourist information and even a cinema you should find your needs met within a few minutes walk of the apartment. In summer there are numerous walks on the doorstep (both gentle and strenuous) and for the more energetic there is via-ferata, horse riding, mountain biking, several types of water-sport and paragliding. In winter there is cross country skiing, snow-shoeing, dog-sleds (right outside the apartment) and of course 650km of downhill skiing spanning both France and Switzerland.
The nearest town is Chatel, only 5 minutes drive up the valley. Here you will find a busy, vibrant atmosphere with a wonderful selection of shops, restaurants, large supermarket, bowling alley, ice rink in winter, and outdoor swimming pool and tennis in summer. Plus open air concerts.
The area has all the facilities of a large resort, but without the package holidays and coach parties. The skiing is fantastic, catering for all abilities with good ski schools and mountain restaurants. The Port du Soliel covers Chatel, La Chapelle, Les Gets, Morzine and Avoriaz. as well as several small resorts in Switzerland.

Nous ne pouvons que conseiller ce superbe appartement. Il est très bien situé au pied des pistes, au calme cependant dans la jolie station de la Chapelle d'Abondance. L'appartement est très ensoleillé et la vue sur les montagnes est magnifique. Il est très bien équipé, joliment décoré et la literie est très confortable. Il y a à quelques pas une très bonne boulangerie qui propose des produits régionaux délicieux, il y a également de très bons petits restos. C'est une location de grande qualité, très bon rapport qualité/prix. Nous reviendrons...

"A home from home with a touch of luxury, plus great location"
We stayed here in February half term, a family of four. The owners were exceptionally helpful with the booking, directions, ski hire and anything else we wanted to know.
The apartment is beautifully presented and maintained, everything you could possibly need or wish for.
The location is also great, lovely local shop within walking distance plus some great restaurants/bars. We particularly liked Le Fer Rouge, great atmosphere, food and service.
There was lots of choice for skiing either at the local slopes or a short car drive. We liked all the areas we explored but our favourite was the Chatel area - top tip would be to drop everyone off with their kit at the gondola and then one person park the car in the car park as it's an uphill walk with skis etc.
The owners have the details of some local English ski instructors but suggest booking early, we left it too late and they were fully booked. I had a lesson with the local French ESF school which was very good.
We all had a fab holiday, loved the area and sure we'll be back!

"A beautiful and comfortable apartment with excellent views."
We stayed for two weeks over Christmas and New Year. The apartment was beautifully appointed and a very good size. The two bathrooms, one with a bath, was excellent for our family. Our teenagers loved the facilities having English television and WI-FI to keep up with friends and relaxing on an evening. We skied for twelve days and having a contact to help with ski passes and equipment could not have been better, although everything you need is within walking distance in the village. The local skiing is very pleasant with more advanced skiing just a bus ride away. Local eateries were friendly and welcoming offering a good standard of food. The apartment information was excellent and accurate. We loved having the garage facilities avoiding defrosting everyday. We would have no problems recommending this apartment to anyone for the quality and friendliness of service.

A well appointed modern apartment in a delightful traditional village. We stayed at the end of the summer season so some places were closing but it had everything we needed. The apartment is well located, 5 mins to bakers for morning bread and croissants, walking distance of good restaurants and lots of walking and running trails on the doorstep. The balcony has sunshine all day and the kitchen is well equipped if you want to eat at home.

"Magnifique appartement spacieux et bien situé"
Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour à La Chapelle d'Abondance dans ce magnifique appartement : beaucoup de confort et une décoration très recherchée.
Un cadre exceptionnel tant à l'intérieur de l'appartement qu'à l'extérieur (juste en face des pistes mais suffisamment distant pour ne pas en subir les nuisances et pouvoir apprécier le paysage en toute tranquillité)

"Excellent accommodation in a quiet, scenic location"
This has to be the best equipped self catering apartment we have stayed in - everything has been thought of right down to shopping bags and walking poles! The accommodation is well laid out and very comfortable. The location is very convenient for the village centre, yet is very quiet and the views from the windows are wonderful.
October is very much out of season in the Val d'Abondance, which was perfect for a peaceful holiday enjoying the walks in the surrounding countryside. It did mean the choice of restaurants was limited, but with an excellent bread and delicatessen shop just round the corner and excellent cooking facilities in the apartment this was not a problem.

"Picturesque French alpine location and the apartment excellent."
We thoroughly enjoyed a late ski week. The local free bus (and our hire car) took us to a variety of ski points - gave access to many walks and villages. A good choice of lrestaurants with and local dishes at reasonable cost - and a massive supermarket at Chatel should you need it.A gem of a location especially in full season (or I imagine in summer).

"Perfect for ahort family ski holiday"
Lovely ski area of Chatel & Pres de Joux. Ski conditions, lots of snow & lots of sunshine. Restaurants in Chatel great. Booked Ski, boots & helmet hire from Ski 2000 in Chatel on-line (first time), & very reasonable. Anne the owner's correspondence was prompt, & always helpful Her contact in the areas Andy checked us in & out, & were both great, Great VFM, & we couldn't fault the Chalet in any way. Every little touch was well thought out, & if we return to the area we will return to the same Chalet. We drove over using the Eurotunnel, (also for the first time), & having a car was great.
