About the home

Charming renovated cottage sleeping up to 8 + cot. Fully equipped with all modern appliances inc UK freeview TV. Just 15 minutes away is our small private Carp lake for the angler (FOC) Reservoirs for fishing on a day ticket, or a holiday fishing permit can be locally purchased should you wish to fish on the many beautiful nearby lakes and rivers. Most lakes also offer sandy beaches, safe bathing and water sports. The golf course is only a 10 minute drive away and we also have, by separate arrangement, a fully equipped music rehearsal studio for the songwriter or band.

Large farmhouse kitchen diner with log fire, gas hob/electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle etc: Utility with dishwasher, washing machine, ironing facilities and W.C.: Lounge, sofa bed, log burner, sat TV, DVD, books and games: Upstairs are 3 double sized bedrooms with flexible sleeping arrangements, one en-suite with shower, hand basin and W.C. and one family bathroom with bath/shower, hand basin, bidet and W.C. All towels are provided. The owners Keith and Terry are nearby and are happy to help should you need anything.

Plenty of outdoor seating, B.B.Q., 5 metre above ground pool for the warmer months, table tennis, badminton, cricket, volleyball, boules, bicycles, buckets and spades for the lakeside beaches. Private large grassed area to rear, plenty of off road parking. This is a peaceful area, ideal for walking, bird watching, fishing, or simply relaxing, or you can explore the many chateaux, historical monuments and fabulous scenery in this beautiful region known as the lake district of France.

All linen and towels are provided (including beach/pool towels). A small charge for fuel will be added for winter bookings. Long term lettings considered. Flexible arrival dates. Owners live nearby if you need help or advice.

Conditions

25% deposit required when booking and balance payable 6 weeks before arrival. Any breakages to be paid for or replaced. £100 returnable security deposit required (cheque preferred). Smoking is permitted but not in bedrooms.

The Limousin / Auvergne / Creuse region

The deparment of La Creuse is a beautiful rural area of France, situated to the north of the "Massif Central" with it's mountains and extinct volcanoes. Boasting 1200 kms of rivers and 1,000 hectares of lakes, many with watersport facilities and safe bathing, it is the ideal area for a relaxing, and very "French" holiday.The summer months are warm and balmy, ideal for evening B.B.Q's. The nearby "Circuit de Romanticism" gives you an insight in to the life of Georges Sands the famed 19th century diarist, novelist and lover of Chopin. This is a great place to 'get away from it all' relax and unwind.

The La Cellette area

The nearest man made beach is only 15 minutes away at Chateleus Malveleix. Gueret is the department's capital town with it's many shops and restaurants. It also has a wolf park and labyrinth and weekly market. La Chatre is a quaint and pretty town. With it's cobbled streets, bars and restaurants,Saturday market and beautiful indoor/outdoor swimming pools, it is well worth a visit. Close by, Montgivray, a small and charming village, holds a renowned 2 day Jazz festival in July. There are also many "Brocantes" and special fete days held throughout the Spring and Summer months. Plenty of places of beauty and historical interest to visit including Oradour-sur-Glane the martyred village of WW2, Gargilesse the artist's village and one of France's most picturesque villages, Saint Benoit du Sault, all within easy driving distance. Boussac has a weekly market a castle with lovely tea rooms next door. Futurscope is approx 2 hours away.

“Le Chirons: Fantastic” The house was superb, extremly spacious with all amenaties whilst retaining the true appeal of a French house. The gardens are very large and child friendly, with the pool a delight on hot summer days. Terri and Kieth were great hosts, nearby and very helpful with all our questions whilst not being the slightest intrusive. The surrounding areas are picturesque with huge amounts to do should you wish I would have no doubts in recommending Le Chirons to anybody, certainly a 10 out of 10 Response: Great to meet you all, thanks for your kinds words and hope to see you again next year!

“Our time at Les Chirons was everything we could have wished for and more!” The house and gardens were really lovely and we were made to feel very welcome by the owners Terry and Keith. The place was lovely and clean, very comfortable and peaceful. We enjoyed our little trips out in the mornings but always returned to spend the afternoons and evenings back at home. I call it home as there was everything we needed at Les Chirons, we even used the pool during the warm afternoons. The little village just down the road La Cellette (very small but friendly) was a nice quiet place to have a nice cold beer or a glass of nice French wine and they also served good food in the one and only resturant. We had a very nice holiday and will visit Les Chirons again. Response: It was a pleasure to meet you both and thank you for your kind words.
