Home description
Altamira is situate in the up-market area of Plaza del Duque. Open the gate at the bottom of the complex and you are on a beautiful promenade adjoining one of the best beaches on the Island. The complex has two pools (one heated) a restaurant, a nice cafe with stunning views,3 lifts and a very friendly and helpful reception desk.
Altamira is quiet and peaceful yet a relaxing 15 minute stroll along the promenade will take you to the bars at Fanabe beach, keep going and you will reach the marina at Puerto Colon, and after a further 20 minutes walk you will reach the lively resorts of Las Americas and Los Christianos.

The Tenerife region
Tenerife boasts a superb climate which never gets cold in the winter and rarely gets too hot in the summer. It is ideal for golfers in the winter months or indeed for any sporting or social outdoor activity such as fishing, cycling, walking and water sports etc.
A trip to Mount Teidi is a must with it's spectacular landscape and views. Shopping in the capital of Santa Cruz is highly recommended and is the location for the world's second largest carnival which takes place in February.
A trip to see the wild life and animal shows at Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz provides a fantastic family day out.
La Caleta area
Two attractions that are less than fifteen minutes by car from Altamira are the Aqua park in Costa Adeje which also has an excellent dolphin show and the Las Aguilas Jungle park.
There are good shopping facilites in Las Americas and Los Christianos which are within 15 minutes by car.
The rstaurants are too numerous too mention but we highly recommend the Rodeo restaurant just by exit 30 on the motorway which is 5 minutes away. It is an all you can eat Brazilian barbeque restaurant with a set price currently about 16 euros per head, but if you like quality meat,salads and mouth watering desserts you will not be disappointed - but a warning - arrive very hungry if you want to sample all the meats!!
How to get there
Fly to Tenerife South - Altamira is approximately 20 minutes by car from the airport. Cheap flights are available from a number of airlines such as Monarch, XL, First Choice and Thomas Cook. There are a number of car hire firms operating from the airport and we have found AutoReisen to be one of the most competitively priced and offer a good service. Tenerife has an excellent bus service and in any event a taxi from the airport to the apartment shouldn't cost more than 15 euros.

Further details indoors: The apartment contains :- Sony TV and Video with English tv channels, Sony Hi Fi. Quality fitted kitchen with granite worktops, cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave. Electronic safe Washing machine and tumble-drier Large sofa bed Masses of wardrobe and storage space.
Further details outdoors: Altamira has a large heated pool which is divided into two areas. One side is approx three feet deep for the children and the other side is 5 to 7feet deep for the more serious swimmer. In addition there is a separate kiddies pool. The complex has pool tables, table tennis and bar-football. Tennis is available on two courts at the Riu Palace Hotel next door as well as many other hotels in the surrounding area. For golfers the Costa Adeje course has 27 holes and is less than 5 minutes by car. There are further courses at Las Americas and Golf del Sur, approximately 5 courses in the south all less than 30 minutes by car. The Aqua park is ten minutes away and a trip to Mount Teidi is only 40 minutes by car.
However, for those that enjoy leisurely walks along the seafront then Altamira is the place to stay. You can choose to go east along the coast towards the many bars of Fanabe beach and then further to the marina of Puerto Colon and on to the lively resorts of Las Americas and Los Christianos or perhaps stroll west along a quieter stretch of coast to the fishing village of La Caleta which has several fish restaurants.
