About the home

Les Tournesols is a great holiday location for all the family offering relaxation, things to do and places of interest to visit locally.

The house benefits from a private new hard tennis court and a new heated 10x5m fenced pool (with a large terrace -200m2) overlooking gardens and fields.

There are many beautiful countryside walks from the house. Explore the miles of tracks and quiet country lanes which surround La Caillere.

A deposit of £150 is required per week booked, the balance is payable 8 weeks before the start of your booking.
A refundable breakages security deposit of £150 is required on arrival.
The client is to take out a travel insurance policy giving full personal liability cover for all members of the party. (under French law this is not covered by the property owners insurance)

Conditions

Rental prices are fully inclusive of utilities, provision of bed linen and towels.
Welcome pack provided on arrival.
End of stay cleaning included.
Linen change for bookings of more than 1 week.
Change over saturday, flexible in low season.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region

The Vendee has a varied landscape consisting of 140 km of coastline (fantastic beaches), the Marais Poitevin a patchwork of fields divided by canals, plains and the bocage. La Caillere is located in the bocage area of the Vendee, an area of rolling countryside dotted with lakes and forests.

The area enjoys a good climate with one of the best sunshine records in france.

There are many historical places of interest and great theme parks at Puy-du-Fou (45min) and Futuroscope (90min).

The La Caillere Saint-Hilaire area

La Caillere is a large village with a range of shops consisting of a small well stocked super market, boulangerie, boucherie, poissonerie (weekends only), pharmacie, banks, bar/tabac, petrol station, pizzeria and restaurant. There is also a football pitch for ball games and a skateboard park about 5 minutes walk away.

Around La Caillere there are many tracks and lanes perfect for walking and cycling.

Of the many places to visit nearby are Fontenay-le-Comte with its ancient streets of Renaissance houses, Vouvant one of the most beautiful villages in France and the vast Mervent-Vouvant forest to name just a few.

As well as the new tennis court on site there are 4 indoor courts at the Tennis club in Fontenay-le-Comte.

You can take your car via Brittany ferries who sail to Roscoff, Cherbourg, Caen & St Malo. We are just 3 hours from St Malo.

Fly into:- Nantes (1Hour) - Ryan Air, BA, Air France
La Rochelle (1 Hour) - Flybe, Ryan Air, Easyjet.

“Great accommodation; lovely host; good swimmingh pool” We had a lovely time at Les Tournesols. The accommodation was clean, appropriately furnished, well equipped kitchen .. with a nice welcome pack of milk, coffee and other bits and pieces. Barbeque. Good outdoor space. Takes the pressure off when arriving on a Saturday night! Swimming pool was great and the kids loved it. It was well looked after. Location is within an easy walk of the closest boulangerie (which did good patisserie) and a little co-op style supermarket which has most of what you need. There are good supermarkets in easy reach (but by car). Local restaurant very passable ... but good ones are also nearby. Lots to do in the area ... an absolute definite is the Puy du Fou ... and if you want to go to the Spectacle in the evening you MUST pre-book it ... it sells out weeks in advance ... you can do it online (although you have to take a leap of faith that the weather will be good). All of us had a great time.

“Great property” Good sized property which was clean and tidy and suited our requirements perfectly travelling with young children and grandparents. The host was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The children loved the pool, tennis court, big garden and trampoline which were well looked after, safe and secure. Would certainly recommend to others.

“Excellent place to stay” Les Tournesols is a lovely, very clean gite, with a heated swimming pool and full size tennis courts. Me and my family had a fantastic two weeks, and have already booked for next year. Dawn is a great host, with good local knowledge and always eager to help.

“We didn't want to leave!” Clean, tidy, spacious property. Friendly host. Property within walking distance to local village where everyone we met was helpful and friendly. Spar shop that stocks practically everything you'd need (except Weetabix!!). Village restaurant good. Loved the pool at the property (fenced off so that small children cannot get in there on their own) and the fact that the children could play happily and safely within the large garden. Plenty of day trips and activities within easy drive. To be honest, we loved all of it and can't wait to go back there again!
