About the home

The cottage is decorated in calming neutral colours throughout with exposed beams and stonework.
The kitchen/diner seats up to 8 people and has a log burner. The lounge is warm and cozy and has a music system with i pod station.
Bedroom 1 has a king size four poster bed. Bedroom 2 has twin beds and bedroom 3 is an attic room which sleeps 4 children or 2 /3 adults, it has twin beds and a sofa bed. There is a DVD player. The shower room is large, light and airy with a baby bath.
Outside is very tranquil, the gite is gated with ample parking. The private bbq area has a large rustic table and an area for french boule with views over the countryside.There is a private gateway to the pool.
The 10 x 5 m pool is shared with the owners, it has a large deck with sunloungers and again the wonderful countryside views. The pool is fully secured to the latest french standards.

Pets are allowed but must be fully supervised, they are not permitted around the pool area.

Smoking is not allowed inside the gite.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region

Situated in the sunny South Vendee, near to the West Coast of France with it's famous beaches with surfing and swimming. Puy du Fou - large historic amusement park (25mins). Futurescope - 3 D theme park (Poitiers 1hr 15 mins). Fontenay le comte - historic old town (20 mins). La Rochelle - famous ancient harbour and cobbled streets with fantastic shopping, restaurants and people watching cafes,boat trips to many islands and Aquarium. Vouvant - the medieval village (15 mins). Green Venice with wonderful waterways.

La Maison Bleue is situated on the edge of La Caillere village within walking distance of the village centre with all amenities. General store, bar/tabac, petrol ,pizzeria, boulangerie, poissonnerie, bank and pharmacie. There is a skateboard park, tennis court and local walks.
There are forests and lakes nearby for swimming, walking, hiking,horseriding,cycling,fishing and canoeing.
You can visit pottery, art galleries and museums.
There are wonderful Restaurants nearby, or sample english fish'n'chips on a friday evening at a local french bar.

“A place in the middle of nowhere” If you want a rural location then this is for you. We are used to all the mod cons but this gite has none of them, it is back to basics but is clean. You will need to take absoultely everything with you ie. washing up liquid, toilet roll, hand soap, kitchen roll etc. There is a good corner shop and we stopped at a supermarket on the way back one night. Its about 1/2 hours on country roads to civilisation - we would have preferred to be nearer to eateries and shops. By the end of the week we had got used to our surroundings and the gite owners are a lovely English couple but with not alot of knowledge of the area ie. no suggestions of where we could go or things to do. We can look back and laugh. Response: La Maison Bleue is in the village of La Caillere and is walking distance to the Restaurant, bar/tabac, petrol, pharmacie, grocery store(Spar), butcher and baker. La caillere is 15 minutes from the nearest town of Chantonnay, there you will find 2 large supermarkets, restaurants, bars and shops. La Maison bleue is provided with a toilet roll, dishwasher tablets, cleaning products, linen and towels. It is also fitted with mod cons, such as dishwasher, microwave, cooker, fridge, toaster, kettle, washing machine, stereo with ipod dock and tv/dvd player, we do not have English TV. There are games and a large selection of books. My Family have lived here 9 years and we are all very happy to give our knowlegde of what to see and do, we also provide a basket of information from the tourist board. Our guests holiday is very important therefore we leave them in the peace and tranquility the surrounding area offers but are here for any questions they may have.
