The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Pyrenees Atlantiques region

The Basque country is made up of 7 provinces. The Northern Basque country is part of the French and the Southern Basque country is part of the Spanish. Basque people are known as one of the oldest European settlers and are recognised for their strong culture and rich oral literature.
Euskara is the language of the Basque and has been passed orally through the generations. Euskara remains a vital part of the basque people and is currently taught in schools.
The top of Pyrenees chain soars from 500 m to 2500 m , and divides this country into two. The East side has a continental and Mediterranean climate while the Atlantic side carries through an oceanic climate.

La Bastide Clairence area

La Bastide Clairence
The traditional southwest walled town of Clairence was founded in 1312 by Louis the first of Navarre . He succeeded his father, Philippe the Bel and therefore was the future king of France . Two years later Louis the first changed his name into Louis X the Qaureller. The King of France, took part in the building of Clairence, with the aim in creating a ‘natural environment' that never changes with the times.

Having kept its original form, you will discover these beautiful traditional houses with the original architecture.
The Clairence walled town is also known as “Bastide of Aquitaine” and “the one of the most beautiful villages in France ”.

It is a dynamic village with many festivities, these include traditional Basque dancing and has local agricultural and quality products sold at the local market. As it's a village with many traditions, it has developed a quality craft industry. Selling the most beautiful and creative handy crafts.
