Occupancy Notes:
We feel that in order to enjoy a property at its best it should not be unreasonably over-occupied and that bedrooms are for sleeping in and lounges for living in! For this reason there are no sofa beds. La Casita is intended to be your 'home' and not just somewhere to sleep. However, we do have a guest bed suitable for use in the master bedroom which will accommodate a child or young adult (7th guest) and which is available at our discretion depending your party make up.
Further details outdoors:
From the lounge terrace there are steps up to the enormous solarium (75 sq metres), for the exclusive use of La Casita guests, which due to the superb front line location has uninterrupted open views over the village below to the harbour and Tower of Saint Elena beyond. There is a stunning stone tiled BBQ in traditional Spanish chimney style plus a large commercial grade picnic bench accommodating 8 under the cover of a shaded pergola plus four commercial quality sun loungers. There is a shower and power point. The pool is just a few minutes walk away - conveniently placed but sufficiently away as to not allow any disturbance from pool noise.

The Costa Calida region

When heading South from the great stretches of beach around the Mar Menor lagoon, the coastline becomes increasingly mountainous with just occasional isolated coves and once south of Cartagena the scenery becomes ever more stunning. Half way between Cartagena and the now bustling resort of Puerto Mazarron there is a turning off the main road to the beautiful fishing village of La Azohia, at the most easterly point of the Gulf of Mazarron. The mountains finally recede behind a promontory called Cabo Tinoso, giving way again to vast stretches of beach which go all the way to Puerto Mazarron and beyond. The village is in a truly beautiful location, still closely bound by a backdrop of dramatic scenery before the gulf deepens further inland, which not only protects it from easterly winds but, perhaps more importantly, from further development.
The La Azohia area
The beach at La Azohia is gently shelving with shallow, warm waters with sand underfoot and a beautiful new palm-lined promenade stretching two miles ensuring a memorable, 20 minute evening stroll along the sea front as the sun sets across the bay. Much prized by the Spanish the sea here is considered amongst the clearest in Spain and has been granted blue flag status for many years with the deeper waters at Cabo Tinoso known by divers far and wide for their colourful sea beds and by the local fishermen who still bring in their daily tuna catches to the quaint marina.
El Pinar de San Gines nestles behind lovely mature villas in the exclusive San Gines district of La Azohia on the lower slopes of the mountain, on what was pine forest. It is in an incredibly quiet and peaceful spot yet just a five minute walk through lovely residential avenues to the best part of the seafront and a couple of good restaurants. It was the first (and is likely to be the only) development of its kind to be allowed here and is built in traditional Andalucian ‘pueblo’ style in order to be in keeping with the surroundings – with winding paths, lovely private gardens and communal swimming pools. The development itself is already taking on the air of a village within a village and proving very popular with families as children can play safely.
Seasonal seafront facilities along La Azohia cove include water sports, showers and snack bars. There are children's play areas and, around the marina, several professional diving schools and excellent restaurants serving varied menus to include fresh seafood. The area is well known for fishing and come early evening you will see the locals unwinding awaiting a catch.. A beautiful 45 minute walk along an easy path that hugs the sea brings you to the neighboring village of Isla Plana with its excellent steak house, La Chara, providing an alternative evening excursion. There is a small but well-stocked supermarket less than 5 minutes walk away and ten restaurants/bars in La Azohia itself, with several more in Isla Plana and extensive facilities in the bustling port of Mazarron just 10 minutes drive away. Opportunity for wonderful walking is provided in the local hills or the Sierra Espuna natural park inland with its snow-capped mountain. . Spa facilities are available at the 4* Azohia Hotel & the internationally renowned spa town of Archena with its fantastic thermal hydrotherapy pools is only around an hour's drive away at the gateway to the beautiful Ricote valley. For cultural excursions the town of Cartagena with its ancient port & Murcia with its magnificent Baroque cathedral, boasting the highest spire in Spain, should not be missed. Both have El Corte Ingles department stores for those with shopping in mind. A little furthert afield in the north of the region can be found many ancient towns such as Caravaca de la Cruz, one of the five Holy Cities. There are also many colourful markets and fiestas. There are several golf courses nearby including the famous La Manga Club. Our guests are provided with a comprehensive & detailed travel guide to ensure they make the most of this diverse corner of Spain.

It was a fantastic stay. The property is identical to how it appears in the description. There was not massive tourist affluence at the beaches, I guess because it was in september. Just a fantastic place. Response: I do agree that La Azohia must be the best location on the Costa Calida - it is both beautiful and unspoiled, yet offers everything anyone could want for a relaxing holiday to take time out from life. I am so pleased that La Casita came up to your expectations from the description given. Thank you again for your kind comment. |

The apartment was very clean and well equipped. It is perfectly located and the views from the rooftop sun terrace are superb. It is a lovely spot to relax during the day or barbecue in the evening whilst watching the sunset over the bay. La Azohia is a pretty, unspoilt town. There are a few local restaurants serving good food, and large supermarkets and other facilities within a short drive. It was easy to book and the owner provided us with a wealth of information about the area. We had a very relaxing holiday here. Response: Thank you so much for your kind comment - it makes all the work worthwhile to know it is appreciated. I am so pleased you have been able to enjoy this idyllic little gem on the Costa Calida. |

We have stayed at "La Casita" on 3 occasions in the last three years. The apartment is first class. It is very clean, well equipped with everything you need for your stay. The availabilty of all UK TV stations is a big bonus if you have children. The most attractive feature however, is the roof top solarium which is very spacious, has a dining table and sun loungers anda first rate BBQ..It has the most beautiful views over the sea and the bay. It is also quiet and peaceful. The booking process with the owner is extremely smooth and efficeint. This process is also mirrored when you arrive and depart as the owner employs a very efficient representative to assist you . She has also prepared first class information/literature on the surrounding area and local facilities. La Azohia is a real undiscovered gem, a beautiful, quiet place that ihas escaped the masses so far. Isla Plana a 5 min drive away is a lovely village to visit, as is Puerto Mazzaron. I cannot recommend the apartment and location enough. A short transfer time from Murcia airport (45 mins) makes this the perfect holiday destination for those who want a quiet holiday in a beautiful setting. Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to review La Casita so thoroughly. It has been a pleasure to know that you have enjoyed such lovely holidays there and have appreciated all the facilities as well as making full use of the travel guide given to my guests, to ensure full enjoyment of such a beautiful and diverse corner of Spain. I agree that the solarium with its stunning open views really is so special, and has to be experienced to be fully appreciated. Maybe we will see you a fourth time... |

'What a great time we had in La Azohia. Your apartment was lovely, it was well equipped and in a fantastic position, it was perfect! We loved sitting on the balcony any time of the day or night and look across at the
mountains and out to sea. The views are so beautiful and we were very sad to leave your apartment. We loved our holiday in La Azohia so much we would certainly like to stay at your apartment again, some time in the near future we hope.'

'The apartment and area were just as described, if not better, and we had a really nice holiday. We certainly hope to return in a few years possibly with no kids in tow, and spend a couple of weeks just chilling out on the roof terrace enjoying a glass of red and the fine views. The apartment was really nice and welcoming, extremely clean and well serviced. All in all a really nice time and already it seems a long time ago! Again a fantastic holiday. Would recommend area and place to anyone.'
