The stunning cove of La Azohia is considered by many to be the most beautiful location on the Costa Calida, tucked beneath mountains and enjoying a unique micro climate with crystal clear, warm shallow waters. Come and visit this idyllic traditional fishing village, a rare find in this day and age, for a taste of real Spain at its best.
Occupying a front line open position in a quiet location on the most southerly corner on what is already one of the most sought after developments on the Costa Calida, El Mirador offers glorious, uninterrupted views towards the sea to the south and west. Being on an end, it is surrounded on three sides by fully tiled, spacious terraces covering a huge 120 sq metres including a south facing front terrace with open sea views and a fantastic, huge raised south/west facing sun deck again with stunning views and a superb tiled stone traditional chimney BBQ with matching table and benches seating up to 10. Additionally there is a private parking space immediately outside. Being arranged on one floor in a convenient apartment-style layout, with easy access up just six split steps, the property is particularly suitable for those with grandparents or toddlers in buggies.
El Mirador is quite unique amongst lower properties with the feel of a 'bungalow' rather than an apartment.. Not only does it offer the convenience of being able to 'spread' outside on one level but it has great privacy being elevated on an open corner which affords it better views than those of many upper properties. Since we own both El Mirador and La Casita above, both managed by the same agent, guests in both can be assured of no noise disturbance.
Furnished to the highest of standards with leather seating and top quality beds, your comfort is assured - many a holiday has been spoiled by an uncomfortable bed! All curtains and bedspreads are hand made by the owner from quality cottons and linens to give a luxurious, warm feel - a real holiday 'home' in the sun. You are provided with everything you could want and babies are fully catered for with free use of a cot, highchair and lots more.

From here there is a path leading to the pool, just 30 yards or so away - an ideal distance away for convenience without being bothered by pool noise.
Without doubt the best feature of all must be the fantastic raised BBQ and sun terrace. It is huge at around 30 feet long by 11 feet wide and has a stunning stone/tiled traditional chimney BBQ, a matching stone table with four benches which will accommodate up to 10, & four quality sun loungers. Enquire nowThe Costa Calida region
When heading South from the great stretches of beach around the Mar Menor lagoon, the coastline becomes increasingly mountainous with just occasional isolated coves and once south of Cartagena the scenery becomes ever more stunning. Half way between Cartagena and the now bustling resort of Puerto Mazarron there is a turning off the main road to the beautiful fishing village of La Azohia, at the most easterly point of the Gulf of Mazarron. The mountains finally recede behind a promontory at Cabo Tinoso, giving way again to vast stretches of beach which go all the way to Puerto Mazarron and beyond. The village is in a truly beautiful location, still closely bound by a backdrop of dramatic scenery before the gulf deepens further inland, which not only protects it from easterly winds but, perhaps more importantly, from further development.
The La Azohia area
The nearest beach at La Azohia is sandy and the sea gently shelving providing safe, shallow, warm waters with the sand continuing into the sea. There is a beautiful new palm-lined promenade stretching two miles ensuring a memorable evening stroll along the sea front as the sun sets across the bay. Much prized by the Spanish the sea here is considered amongst the clearest in Spain and has been granted blue flag status for many years with the deeper waters at Cabo Tinoso known by divers far and wide for their colourful sea beds and by the local fishermen who still bring in their daily tuna catches to the quaint marina.
El Pinar de San Gines nestles behind lovely mature villas in the exclusive San Gines district of La Azohia on the lower slopes of the mountain, on what was pine forest. It is in an incredibly quiet and peaceful spot yet just a five minute walk through lovely residential avenues to the best part of the seafront and a couple of good restaurants, with several more along the promenade as well as a small but well-stocked supermarket. It was the first (and is likely to be the only) development of its kind to be allowed here and is built in traditional Andalucian ‘pueblo’ style in order to be totally in keeping with the surroundings – with winding paths, lovely private gardens and communal swimming pools. The development itself is already taking on the air of a village within a village and proving very popular with families as children can play safely.
Seasonal seafront facilities spread along the whole of La Azohia cove include water sports, showers, snack bars and a children's play area. There are several professional scuba diving schools by the marina with contact details available for guests wishing to pre-book courses. The area is well known for excellent fishing and come early evening you will see the locals unwinding awaiting a catch on the beaches of Isla Plana, the next village which adjoins La Azohia. There are ten good restaurants/bars in La Azohia itself, more in Isla Plana and extensive facilities in the bustling port of Mazarron just ten minutes drive away. Opportunity for wonderful walking is provided in the local hills or the Sierra Espuna natural park inland. Spa facilities are available at the seasonal 4* Azohia Hotel and the internationally renowned spa town of Archena with its fantastic thermal hydrotherapy pools is only around an hour's drive away at the gateway to the beautiful Ricote valley. For cultural excursions the town of Cartagena with its ancient port & Murcia with its magnificent Baroque cathedral should not be missed. Both have El Corte Ingles department stores for those with shopping in mind. A little furthert afield in the north of the region can be found many ancient towns such as Caravaca de la Cruz, one of the five Holy Cities. There are also many colourful markets and fiestas. There are several golf courses nearby including the famous La Manga Club. Our guests are provided with a comprehensive and detailed travel guide to ensure they make the most of this diverse corner of Spain.
