Upon arrival at Lanzarote Airport we contacted Debi to inform her of our arrival as per her request. On route to the apartment, the taxi driver got lost and we called Debi several times asking her to speak to the driver and every time the driver said 'oh yes now i know where it is'! so a 10 min journey from the airport took us approx 2 hours by which point the 2 toddlers both just over 1 years old were screaming in the car! Then finally we arrived at the Villa and were relieved to enter a lovely villa. Debi briefly told us where to find things. We finally put the kids to sleep and then went for a well deserved shower at which point the problems started...... 1 The bathroom of the master bedroom only had cold water 2 The main bathroom had only boiling hot water so 6 people had to shower in one room! On the second day everything started of well until..... 3 The fuses all started tripping, we were warned of this happening and also shown how to rectify the problem, however the fuse kept on tripping every 30 seconds when we tried to use the dishwasher which started sparking so we decided not to use the dishwasher and wash everything by hand. This could be touched by both the children and was very unsafe. 4 Electricity was lost throughout the villa which meant we had no power, hot water or running water. Bearing in mind we had to children just over a year old we could not give them a bath, heat there food up or wash there utensils. We had very cold and unhappy babies. We informed Debi about this situation and she told us that it will take her 4 hours to resolve the situation! The maintenance guy turned up 5 hours later and firstly couldn't find the problem even after checking for an hour and informed us that a qualified electrician will need to be called. However, on his way out he decided to check the electric meter at the front of the property one last time. He noticed there was no electricity coming into the meter unless he pressed the main fuse which nearly gave him an electric shock and performed a miracle by using a TWIG which he jammed into the main fuse to get the electricity running. He informed us he would come back the following day to clean the pool. 5 In the meantime, my friend and myself ended up getting several electric shocks, also witnessed by Zizi (Debi's husband), from the plug socket when we tried to charge our phones and laptop, which resulted in the chargers all blowing and therefore us having to buy new chargers! 6 We were also left with many of the lights not working. 7 Finally the microvawe thought it would stop working too. Related to the same problem We again had to wait for ages before another one came! We didn't mind using a used microwave but it would have been nice it was clean before giving it to us. IN A WORD, MONDAY WAS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND OUR HOLIDAY RUINED! 7 The villa seemed nice and clean when we entered, perhaps this was more a case of relief after the 2 hour journey from the airport, but we soon realised that this was just surface clean. There were cobwebs everywhere, dust in all the cupboards and other surfaces and the rugs were filthy. 8 The villa seemed nice and clean when we entered, perhaps this was more a case of relief after the 2 hour journey from the airport, but we soon realised that this was just surface clean. There were cobwebs everywhere, dust in all the cupboards and other surfaces and the rugs were filthy. 9 The villa is advertised as baby friendly....god it is anything but. You had a feature which had no ralings so the children could end up taking a drop of about 3ft! We made use of the 2 stair gates provided but still had to block other areas with the dining chairs and sofa to ensure the babies were safe. 10 We never got to use the pool as it was either too dirty (ALGAE at the bottom of the pool) . On Monday the Maintenance guy said he would return on Tuesday to clean the pool. On Tuesday he came and said a new pump was required, On Wednesday he installed the new pump. On Friday he came to clean the pool but it was still dirty. On Sunday he returned and the pool was clean and ready to use... Great... Just in time for us to leave. 11 All in all we are very disappointed with the service, cleanliness, lack of appliances working. 12 Debi accused us of staining her bedding with black dye but none of us used any kind of dye. Response: When you arrived at the villa you were furious with your taxi driver, now it seems I did something to contribute to your long journey from the airport to the villa. You were sent a Google map, written directions, including 17 photographs of landmarks along the 10 minute route, plus a local map, also supplied with photographs, all the way up to the villa. When you telephoned me from the airport, the reason, I thought, was just to let me know that you had arrived, as I had requested, so that I knew, more or less, when you would be arriving at the villa; instead you asked me for the address of the villa?? I didn't understand why, after all of the information I had sent you, you didn't even seem to know the address of your holiday home. After having spoken to your taxi driver three times, (the man had never been in that part of Lanzarote before and no knowledge of the village whatsoever),and after having gone out looking for your taxi and rent-a-car following behind, by this time 3 times, I finally found you all and you followed me back to the villa. I asked the taxi driver if he had been given any of the maps and directions, he said he hadn't, you had only shown him a handwritten address that was incorrect. Your party insisted that you had given him all the maps I had sent you. I apologise if the hour I spent with you after you finally arrived at the villa was too brief for you. Unlike most villa owners, I do not like just leaving a key, which very often happens. I find it very important to welcome guests into my home personally (and it was my home) and like to spend normally one to one and a half hours with my new guests to explain the workings of the villa, give them information about the local area, ask if there are any special things that they would like to do whilst on holiday etc. I am very aware that I do not want to outstay my welcome when people have been travelling all day, so please accept my apologies if you found my greeting too short. 1 The bathroom had hot water; in the villa notes that I put on the kitchen table that I asked you to read, it explains the water system of the villa. In a very large villa, it is explained that this bathroom is at the other end of the villa from the boiler and it takes a little time for the hot water to arrive. 2 Yes, there was a problem with the thermostat on the shower; the system was replaced within a few hours when you notified us of this problem. 3. As you know, this was caused by a major power surge which not only affected our villa, but also affected other villas and local businesses in the area. The electricity company has accepted full responsibility and we are all, thank goodness, being compensated for the appliances that were damaged beyond repair. Part of my welcome is to explain to new guests how to re-set the electrical panel if there is a power cut etc, yes, even Lanzarote has power cuts, it's not just the UK. 4. Yes, there was no electricity in the villa because of a power surge. The water pump is powered by electricity, unfortunately, that doesn't work either when there is no electrical supply. Because we have occasional power cuts in Lanzarote, as does the rest of the world, we have a gas hob instead of an electrical one so that should an interruption occur of the electrical service, guests are still, at least, able to cook and heat liquids. I am sorry that you thought that the 4 hour wait I suggested to you was unacceptable. As it says in our Terms & Conditions, apart from not being physically capable of being responsible for utility services to the villa, nor does any other rental company, both big and small, they also state that we endeavour to rectify any problem within 24 hours. This particular problem was NOT under our control and as you know, the week of your stay, the island experienced heavy rain and high winds and I knew the maintenance man was also coping with other callouts that he had already received that morning. 5. With all due respect, I would have thought that already knowing that there was a problem with the electrics, I am surprised that you would, at this point, try to use the plug sockets to recharge phones and most definitely not try to recharge a laptop. 6. I agree, after the surge many of the light bulbs were not working although this was not immediately apparent as the power surge happened in daytime. When you informed us, the bulbs that were not working were replaced in a couple of hours 7.The microwave was the original appliance that I was informed about. I asked a friend if they could lend me a microwave a it seemed to be the quickest solution. I am sorry it did not arrive in an immaculate condition. I did not check it personally before it was given to you, but as you seemed to be so desperate to have one, I did my best, profuse apologies. I am sorry your Monday was ruined, I hope the rest of your holiday wasn't as we, by a miracle, got most things functioning again within a few hours, not 24 hours. 8. I am so sorry that you did not find our cleaning adequate but very pleased by your rating of 4/5 for cleanliness of our bathrooms. Dust, unfortunately, can be cleaned and reappears in moments on a volcanic island. On a changeover days, all of the bedroom and bathroom rugs are replaced with clean ones. I would be most appreciative if you could let me know what rugs you are referring to. 9 Even websites that are ONLY for babies and toddler have villas where there are 'drops'. Any 'drop' there is in the villa, I think we probably have three, the access to any drop has a lockable door to prevent access or stair gates to it (as in the two steps down to the lounge). When on holiday, one assumes parents use normal vigilance as they would in their own home and as they would even in a public playground in the UK or anywhere else in Europe. This year, 2012, we are introducing a play area for young children including a slide, swing etc. These items will also have a drop, although designed specifically for young children. For the last 18 months I have concentrated on families travelling with babies and toddlers at the suggestion of previous clients that gave us such positive feedback regarding staying in the villa with babies and toddlers. With regard to having to move sofas and dining chairs; I took it upon myself to contact previous guests that had stayed in the villa with either babies and/or young children and no-one could think of where you would have found this necessary. Therefore, I would be most grateful if you could email me explaining what the problem was here. 10 I think the reason that you didn't use the pool was because, to be quite frank, you had the worst weather that we had seen in 6/7 months and I am so sorry for that. Not great to go away on holiday and see the same weather as you do at home, except slightly warmer. My maintenance man normally cleans the pool twice a week but he was exceptionally vigilant when you were staying because of the weather. Every day there was sand, plants, leaves in the pool, as there was in every other pool on the island. 11. I am so sorry that my service was not up to your standards, we do our very best and very proud of the service that we give on a small and remote island. 12 It was not intended as an 'accusation', it was a fact. I actually needed to know what it was because neither myself nor the laundry could remove the stains by bleaching. |

We have stayed at several villas on Lanzarote over the past couple fo years, but this is by far the best. The villa is situated in a peaceful location but within a short distance to Puerto del Carmen with all its busy restaurants and bars. There is a supermarket very close by. The villa itself is superb; lovely pool and garden area. The interior of the villa is decorated to a very high standard and the kitchen is extremely well equipped which makes this a perfect home from home. We enjoyed it so much we are going back again in July. |

Thanks again for a great place to stay - we all thoroughly enjoyed our week. You thought of lots of really useful touches e.g. I forgot to pack cotton wool but there was some there I could use. Kitchen really well equipped!!

We have stayed in lots of Villas in Spain, Italy and France and Illiana was definitely the most homely, best equipped and spacious. Great directions on how to find the property as well, no about turns or swearing at a useless map which made a nice change!
When we booked Villa Illiana our only concern was being away from the resorts and having to drive everywhere. In fact we are really pleased we stayed in La Asomada as it was a great base, really close to the airport (but with zero aircraft noise) with good local shops and restaurants close by and the furthest resort of Playa Blanca being no more than a 30 min drive away. The Villa itself was spacious, well equipped and with a lovely pool to take a dip in at the end of the day. The baby things provided along with things like beach towels, buckets, spades, jigsaws made packing an easier task with a two year old a five month old baby. It was a real help and bonus having a decent cot for Emily, an activity chair and spare travel cot to use as a playpen. Sophie loved the farm jigsaw (it had to be done first thing every morning!). It is very easy to see that this was once a proper home and not just a holiday let property.

Absolutely superb villa with a lovely pool. Ideally situated for the hustle and bustle of Puerto del Carmen yet feels like you're off the beaten track to enjoy the peace. We were looked after really well and the food & wine left when we arrived was great. We can't wait to go back!!!

We have had a great time and I can't stress enough how you , Pepe and Maxi have contributed to this. You have been so helpful especially with assisting with preparations for Vicky's 30th birthday which without a doubt was such a success due to you all going out of your way to suggest and book the venue, arrange the cake to be at the restaurant and even take us on a tour to ensure we knew the route etc... Absolute dedication to your guests, we have never received such personal assistance. I would agree with your comments that we have felt like part of the family and looked after as such, which was replicated when our mothers joined for the last week of our holiday. One last word on Pepe, what an absolute delight, constantly made us laugh and couldn't do enough to ensure we were comfortable. All in all a fabulous holiday, we will definitely return soon!

Have stayed in this villa many times and every time we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The villa is spacious, comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. The owner is a lovely lady, friendly and helpful – couldn’t wish for more. Am going there again soon!:)

We had a super holiday. The peace and quiet were just what we were looking for and your villa was lovely. The little finishing touches, care & attention you put in makes it a bit special. We were also surprised to find that Lanzarote had not changed too much in the several years we had not been, it is quite refreshing nowadays not to be surrounded by high rise and we certainly think it is our favourite Canary Isle. With that in mind, hopefully it will not be too long before we are back!
We had a lovely relaxing stay and thank you for being a wonderful hostess. Debi was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay which was extended because of the Iceland volcano eruption! Comfortable, peaceful villa with all we could wish for during our holiday.
Paul
We had a fabulous time in your villa and will not hesitate to recommend your lovely home to friends and family. Thank you for all that you did for us.
