About the home

This is a beautiful, recently and thoroughly restored finca (farmhouse) which shares the site of an old farmstead on the south side of the island. At the heart of the house is the heated pool, where the terrace area and its pergola provide total privacy and shelter from the Lanzarote sun. The house is perfect for a romantic break or for a family holiday. The bedrooms are cosy, buffered by the 2-3 feet thick old walls. The living area is more contemporary, with an open plan, light feel to it. The kitchen is large, modern and well equipped. There is a big gas BBQ outside, with the teak hexagonal table under the main pergola making for a perfect outside dining area.

The marina at Puerto Calero is only five minutes drive away. The sunbathing beaches on the south side of the island ten minutes drive. The surfing beaches on the north side half an hour. The stunning Timanfaya national park starts on the hill behind Casa Playa Negra, at the base of which the house is located.

There is a separate 'solana' drying area for washing with lines and a washing machine.

There are two bedrooms at ground floor level (2 single beds in one bedroom and a double bed in the second bedroom which can also be configured as two singles) and another double /optional two twin bedded room at first floor level wth its own ensuite bathroom, refrigerator and tea / coffee catering area. It also has the advantage of its own small upstairs terrace with a casual table and two chairs. Direct access to the pool area can be gained from this bedroom and also the previously described double bedroom.

Casa Playa Negra's kitchen is very modern with all necessary equipment - electric hob, oven and extractor, large upright fridge / freezer, coffee maker, toaster and kettle. There are ample good quality cooking pots, pans and serving ware together with sufficient plates, cutlery etc for up to eight diners. An exterior gas barbecue completes the cooking and dining equipment.

Lounge / Diner - this room contains a dining table with seating for eight, four stools at the breakfast bar and a lounge with comfortable easy chair, a twin and triple seater settee suite seating six in all, television, satellite signal decoder, DVD player, CD player and a cabinet which contains ample board games, CD's and books for guests enjoyment.

Externally and within the house boundary is a superb kidney shaped swimming pool, private and sheltered, heated all year round. There are four sun loungers (two in teak with footstools) and a round teak exterior dining table with six teak chairs. (No cheap plastic exterior dinining furniture here)!

At the front of the house is an enclosed parking are that can accommodate three cars and a washing and "solana" drying area where the washing machine is housed.

Further details

Although children are welcome, due to the fact that the pool can be accessed from the house at three points, it makes the house unsuitable for very young children who, naturally adventurous and although mobile have not yet learnt to swim.

Smokers are respectfully asked to only use the exterior of the house for that purpose - specificall the garden and pool area - not inside.

Conditions

A booking is considered as accepted and will be confirmed in writing after receipt of a clients deposit. On receipt of the deposit a confirmation / receipt document will be sent to the client as an email attachment
 
Balance payments are due two weeks prior to arrival date.
 
Any cancellation by the client must be notified in writing directly to John and Jacky Kennedy. If the notification is received more than 14 days before the clients scheduled arrival date, only the deposit will be retained.
 
If less than 14 days before scheduled arrival the following deductions apply:
Between 14 and 7 days - 50% of  the holiday cost. Between 7 days and the arrival date - 100% of the holiday cost.
 
It is strongly recommended that clients take out holiday insurance that covers the loss of deposit etc.
 
We make every effort to ensure that house descriptions are correct, however we do not take any responsibility for  events that are beyond our control or not included in the details of a clients booking.
 
We reserve the right to alter our prices at any time which may become necessary due to circumstances which we are unable to control. However - once a booking has been accepted and confirmed, the price relating to the confirmed detail of that booking will not be changed (no surcharges).
 
Arrival not before 2.00pm and departure by 10.00am - unless otherwise agreed with John and Jacky.

The Lanzarote region

This region is a a gift of nature and without any doupt an incomparable paradise combining the magic of its history with an enviable climate throughout the year, beautiful beaches and breathtaking landscapes, a paradise of unique nature which friendly people proved to know how to take care of.

The climate here is one of the main reasons to make it an attractive holiday destination. Why is it such a pleasant climate? It’s generated by the clash of the high temperatures arriving from the African Sahara Desert with the cold ocean current of the Gulf of Mexico.

The La Asomada, Lanzarote area

La Asomada village is close to Casa Playa Negra although to be fair this sleepy little village is further from the villa than Macher, through which the main road from Arrecife to Playa Blanca runs. Joing that road from the house at the nearest traffic island takes only a minute by car. In Macher there is a petrol station (with Supermarket attached) - useful as it is open on Sunday mornings although closed on Fiesta days.

There is also a good Eurospar supermarket located at the La Asomada / Puerto del Carmen traffic island open on Fiesta days but NOT on Sundays. It has everything a guest vistor may require and good fish, meat and delicatessen counters.

Access to all areas of the island is easy by using the main road described above or by travelling cross country through La Asomada, giving access to the La Geria wine growing area, Timanfaya National Park and other areas further North or South.
