The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Vaucluse region
Provence is a former Roman province and is now a region of southeastern France, located on the Mediterranean Sea adjacent to the Italian border. It is now part of the administrative région of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. The traditional region of Provence comprises the départements of Var, Vaucluse, and Bouches-du-Rhône in addition to parts of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Alpes-Maritimes. Provence is so named because it was the first Roman province outside of the Italian region.
Provence is bounded by the Alps and Italy to the east and the Rhône River to the west, with the Mediterranean Sea providing its southern border. It has very varied topographical feautures, ranging from fertile plains in the Rhône valley to mountains in the east (notably Mont Ventoux, the Luberon range and the Alpilles), to marshlands in the south (the Camargue).

Vaucluse
Landscapes and natural beauty - nature is ready to play : The great diversity of landscapes is one of the first things that strikes visitors to Vaucluse. From the peak of Mont Ventoux to the Luberon range, the high plateau around Sault and the Nesque river canyons, crystal clear rivers flowing through the Sorgues area, the rolling hills of the Monts de Vaucluse – all contribute to creating one immense playground for leisure outdoor activities. Nature is gentle here, accessible to all. Take it slow, explore at your own pace. Athletic challenges also abound - it’s up to you to push the limits as far as you want to take them.
L'Isle sur la Sorgue
This compact medieval town is built on the islands of five branches of the Sorgue river, 7 km downstream from its source at Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. The river flows through, past, in and around the town, in its many natural beds and several canals. Even without gondolas, water adds a special beauty and character to a town. Sorgue has its many river branches and canals, huge overhanging plane trees and several large, lovely waterwheels. Even if the many mills are no longer working, some of the waterwheels still turn
The town history is closely linked to the small river Sorgue. The fist inhabitants lived off fishing. From the 16th to 19th centuries, the river provided a source of energy for burgeoning industries. The water wheels testify to a flourishing industry of silk, wool, and paper making. L'isle sur la Sorgue is the chosen home of many antique and second-hand goods dealers. Each week-end, the market counts about 300 stalls, and more than 500 during the antique fairs at Easter and August 15, attracting an international clientele.

Guestbook
Hello, A huge thanks to you - the villa was simply wonderful and we all had a wonderful time. Unfortunately for us the weather was pretty bad for the first couple of days but at least the sun shined eventually. . I would love to return in the summer and bring my parents as I know thry would also fall in love with it like my sister and I did!!
The couple that were in the reception were also terribly helpful too. If its ok wih you I would love to stay in touch and arrange another visit in the summer. Once again, thank you for such a lovely trip.
