"Spacious and Comfortable"
La Bastide Vieille is perfectly located for exploring the delights of Provence, of which there are many. This was our third trip to the region and we still found new areas to explore. Its location on the D900 means that it was easy and quick to reach all of our favourite towns and villages. The road is well-used and we were aware of the traffic but it was never a problem for us. Parking was easy as the house is located on an unpaved private road parallel to the main road and there is room for several cars outside the property.
The Bastide has been very well renovated. The four large bedrooms are located on two levels off the main central staircase, the two at the rear being a couple of steps higher than the two at the front. As there were only two couples in our party, we used the rear bedrooms, which gave us access to the en-suite for one of the rooms and the main bathroom which was adjacent to the other. The house has thick stone walls and, using the shutters, it is easy to keep the rooms cool on hot days and we slept well.
We also appreciated the excellent showers, a real bonus for Australians!
Downstairs we loved the huge, well-fitted kitchen/dining room and the rear terrace with BBQ. So much so that we didn't really use the comfortable lounge or the TV room! There is also a good laundry with another shower and toilet on this level.
The nearest useful town is Coustellet, 10 minutes or so by car, which has a number of restaurants, a good supermarket (Super U) and a popular Sunday market. The local village of Le Petit Palais, within easy walking distance, also has a good boulangerie/patisserie and L'Isle sur la Sorgue is not far away with its excellent markets and wide range of restaurants, so catering was a breeze.
The owner, Kate, lives with her family in the main building next door so she was always nearby and very willing to offer any help that may be needed.
Overall, excellent, comfortable and convenient accommodation in one of our favourite parts of France. We wouldn't hesitate to book again if we were in the area.
Thank you for your detailed review! I am sure this will help my future customers!I am glad you liked our house in provence and would love to welcome you back any time! best wishes

"what a gem!"
We were met by Kate who had stocked the fridge with every provision we might need. It was so thoughtful of her and she was on hand at anytime we needed her. The property was so beautiful, spacious and spotless we just loved it. The location was perfect to visit all the stunning villages of the Luberon. Wonderful restaurants were recommended and the weather was super.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back when we visit the region again..
Thankyou for your review, and your comments, I hope other travellers find it of use and i am really happy you had a nice time here in provence in our farmhouse, best Wishes Kate

"A peaceful charming setting"
We spent a week at La Bastide Vieille with two other couples and were extremely happy with our decision. The house is beautiful inside and out and is a great place to slow down a bit and enjoy Provence. Kate was awesome--friendly and super informative--and was eager to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay (including fresh eggs from her chickens next door!). The house offered ample room to have space to ourselves, both outdoor and indoor, and at the same time had space for being with our friends. The large open kitchen/dining area and wonderful yard gave us plenty of opportunity to hang out together and enjoy each other's company. The only draw back for us was that we were dependent on a car since the home is a few kilometres from any town. But we all commented on how much we loved La Bastide Vieille and hope to one day return.
Thank you for your review, and i am happy that you had a good time here in provence, if you ever wish to return contact me and i will do my best to help out, Best wishes Kate

"Stunning farmhouse in a lovely location"
We had a lovely 2 weeks. Found that a car is a necessity, as there are many provincial towns nearby which are a must to visit. The town is a delight with lots of shops bars and restaurants. However if you want to visit the larger towns and like us drove from England and didn't want to drive too far, there is a train station situated in the town which provides an excellent service.
We found the owners very friendly and helpful, and would love to adopt the chickens which roamed around and provided us with eggs and amusement, watching them pick the cherries off the tree. We are planning another trip in September, so need I say more.
Thankyou for your review, i hope future clients find it useful.
We are glad you had a good time here in provence and look forward to seeing you again in september Antique hunting.

We stayed at La Bastide Vieille for five nights in July 2013, with two young kids and my in-laws (4 adults and 2 6-year olds). The house was just what we needed - great location, comfortable beds, wonderful bathroom and showers, lots of room to spread out and wonderfully equipped. The owner and her family lives next door so it would be very easy to reach her if needed, but she provided lots of information when we checked in and there are printouts and brochures and guides in the house if you wanted to get more information. The location was great - every day we went in another direction and had lots to see and do. The bakery and stores were close by and the house was stocked with a number of things initially so that you're not arriving and having to run off to the market first thing. The only small downside is that the house is a little difficult to find. I asked for alot of detail and used Google printouts and maps, so I found it quite easily, but my in laws were lost for a while. All in all, a wonderful place to stay. We would definitely recommend it.
Thank you for your comments i am happy your liked our house, I hope other travellers will find it usefull

"Beautiful and relaxing Provence rental villa"
This place was fantastic. We stayed here for a week in July 2013 and could have happily stayed longer. Located just 5 minutes drive from beautiful l'Isle sur la sorgue this farmhouse is located in spectacular surrounds (sunflower & wheat fields) and is spacious & very well appointed.
Kate the host met us in town & led us there, and she has decorated the place beautifully & in keeping with the local style. She also had a huge list of ideas for things to do in the surrounding area.
The 4 massive bedrooms in the villa mean you could stay here with a larger group than the 5 we had, and the massive kitchen & entertaining areas make the time in the house super relaxing.
The surrounding area is full of beautiful towns, many with farmers markets (Kate has a list of when they're on) and l'Isle sur la sorgue itself is such a beautiful town you could easily spend a lot of time there wandering the old town streets & picking up beautiful Provence produce.
We'd definitely look at coming back here again.
Thank you for your review, it would be great to welcome you all back again next year. cheers

"Very comfortable house in a beautiful Provence decor.."
My family and I stayed for one week and we really enjoyed this beautiful and comfortable house. We didn't want to leave it... It felt like home! It was very clean and was tastefully decorated. The beds in the bedrooms were extremely comfortable with lots of pillows. It was super to have 3 bathrooms in a 4 bedroom house. Wifi worked great (very important for us). Kate was very easy going and made us feel very confortable - thank you!
Thank you for your review, i am glad you enjoyed the house and found it comfortable, Best Wishes
