"Lovely home and helpful host"

The house was exactly as pictured on the website. Lovely decor, beautiful bedding, ample baths. The beautiful timbered ceiling had been carefully restored by Kate and her husband. No problems with wifi or TV, but American visitors might need just a bit of instruction on common appliances. We figured out the washer, stove, and dishwasher, but European models tend to use symbols rather than words. Everything worked, though! Kate, our host, shared great information with much left by previous guests as well. Kate lives next door and has chickens, so we had fresh eggs for breakfast one morning. She made dinner reservations for us and even tracked down where a certain fabric shop would have its stall for the famous weekly Sunday market in L'isle sur la Sorque (go early). We were particularly grateful for someone leaving behind a detailed Michelin map of the area on which this very house is listed! We had a car so no problem with basics down the road about 5 minutes to supermarket, wine co-ops, etc.
One possible negative, though it wasn't for us: It is just off a busy road, the D900, and one can hear traffic in the house. It wasn't a negative for us as most all traffic ceased around 10 and didn't start up again until a reasonable time in the morning. Unlike staying in a town, staying here without a car would be a problem. We are also older adults (60s and 70s) but could handle the stairs and levels. If stairs are challenging, just know that all 4 bedrooms are upstairs (although one full bath is on the main floor).
We are so pleased and grateful to have found this property for our short October stay in Provence.

Thank you for your review, and I am pleased you enjoyed the house here in provence. I hope that others find the review useful when considering us for their holidays in the future.

I traveled with my parents, my husband and my two girls of 3 and 8 years. The property was absolutely everything we could possibly have wished for. It was super clean and very comfortable. We could pick almonds from the trees and got eggs from the chickens every day. Kate was very helpful through the whole process. She put some wine, milk and eggs in the fridge for us on arrival; she allowed us to bring a blow-up pool for the children. We had lots of barbecues and enjoyed the sunshine and the nice big garden thoroughly! Just before leaving, Kate even printed the tickets for our onward journey. We had all we needed and I would definitely recommend this property.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. It was a pleasure to have you here and I am pleased that you enjoyed the fruits of contry life in provence. Again I hope this review helps future travellers with thier choice to come with us, Thanks again, Kate

"Spacious and Comfortable"

La Bastide Vieille is perfectly located for exploring the delights of Provence, of which there are many. This was our third trip to the region and we still found new areas to explore. Its location on the D900 means that it was easy and quick to reach all of our favourite towns and villages. The road is well-used and we were aware of the traffic but it was never a problem for us. Parking was easy as the house is located on an unpaved private road parallel to the main road and there is room for several cars outside the property.
The Bastide has been very well renovated. The four large bedrooms are located on two levels off the main central staircase, the two at the rear being a couple of steps higher than the two at the front. As there were only two couples in our party, we used the rear bedrooms, which gave us access to the en-suite for one of the rooms and the main bathroom which was adjacent to the other. The house has thick stone walls and, using the shutters, it is easy to keep the rooms cool on hot days and we slept well.
We also appreciated the excellent showers, a real bonus for Australians!
Downstairs we loved the huge, well-fitted kitchen/dining room and the rear terrace with BBQ. So much so that we didn't really use the comfortable lounge or the TV room! There is also a good laundry with another shower and toilet on this level.
The nearest useful town is Coustellet, 10 minutes or so by car, which has a number of restaurants, a good supermarket (Super U) and a popular Sunday market. The local village of Le Petit Palais, within easy walking distance, also has a good boulangerie/patisserie and L'Isle sur la Sorgue is not far away with its excellent markets and wide range of restaurants, so catering was a breeze.
The owner, Kate, lives with her family in the main building next door so she was always nearby and very willing to offer any help that may be needed.
Overall, excellent, comfortable and convenient accommodation in one of our favourite parts of France. We wouldn't hesitate to book again if we were in the area.

Thank you for your detailed review! I am sure this will help my future customers!I am glad you liked our house in provence and would love to welcome you back any time! best wishes

"what a gem!"

We were met by Kate who had stocked the fridge with every provision we might need. It was so thoughtful of her and she was on hand at anytime we needed her. The property was so beautiful, spacious and spotless we just loved it. The location was perfect to visit all the stunning villages of the Luberon. Wonderful restaurants were recommended and the weather was super.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back when we visit the region again..

Thankyou for your review, and your comments, I hope other travellers find it of use and i am really happy you had a nice time here in provence in our farmhouse, best Wishes Kate

"A peaceful charming setting"

We spent a week at La Bastide Vieille with two other couples and were extremely happy with our decision. The house is beautiful inside and out and is a great place to slow down a bit and enjoy Provence. Kate was awesome--friendly and super informative--and was eager to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay (including fresh eggs from her chickens next door!). The house offered ample room to have space to ourselves, both outdoor and indoor, and at the same time had space for being with our friends. The large open kitchen/dining area and wonderful yard gave us plenty of opportunity to hang out together and enjoy each other's company. The only draw back for us was that we were dependent on a car since the home is a few kilometres from any town. But we all commented on how much we loved La Bastide Vieille and hope to one day return.

Thank you for your review, and i am happy that you had a good time here in provence, if you ever wish to return contact me and i will do my best to help out, Best wishes Kate

"Stunning farmhouse in a lovely location"

We had a lovely 2 weeks. Found that a car is a necessity, as there are many provincial towns nearby which are a must to visit. The town is a delight with lots of shops bars and restaurants. However if you want to visit the larger towns and like us drove from England and didn't want to drive too far, there is a train station situated in the town which provides an excellent service.
We found the owners very friendly and helpful, and would love to adopt the chickens which roamed around and provided us with eggs and amusement, watching them pick the cherries off the tree. We are planning another trip in September, so need I say more.

Thankyou for your review, i hope future clients find it useful.
We are glad you had a good time here in provence and look forward to seeing you again in september Antique hunting.
Best Wishes
