This charming apartment will appeal to those who want to enjoy a holiday in a village with history and character, staying in a delightful apartment decorated with style and providing all the modern conveniences including free wifi, washer/dryer and dishwasher. The apartment is on the first floor of a respectfully modernized old building dating back several centuries. There is a large bedroom with en suite bathroom, a second bedroom/lounge with a sofa bed, dining/kitchen, laundry and separate toilet. The fully equipped kitchen retains the charm of the apartment and ensures you are able to enjoy preparing the wonderful fresh local produce available at the twice-weekly markets. You will immediately feel at home in this apartment which doesn't get too hot in summer and is cosy in winter.

Below the apartment is a fully equipped studio apartment 'Centre Ville Studio' which sleeps 2 people comfortably and adds an additional living area/bedroom if you have a large group seeking accommodation.

In a short "Impasse" off one of the squares in the old town, you are a minute or two from everything the town has to offer - the famous antiques market on Sundays and fresh produce markets on Thursdays and Sundays, over 30 restaurants and cafes, shops, waterways and waterwheels, beautiful old church and old town architecture.

Our welcoming 60m2 apartment offers modern facilities within the charm of wonderful old plaster feature walls and high ceilings. Well equipped kitchen with good quality new appliances, en-suite bathroom with separate toilet, washer-dryer, Ipod/CD player and wifi internet. Please note we do not have a TV but there is a good wireless internet connection free of charge.

The Provence region

The countryside around L'Isle Sur la Sorgue offers a long list of places to visit and activities to enjoy:

Little hilltop towns such as Gordes, Menerbes and Rousillon are all within 30 minutes drive and are lovely to wander through, enjoy the architecture, views and little shops and stop for coffee, lunch, or a glass of local wine.

Historical places with well preserved Roman ruins such as L'Orange, Nimes, Vaison-La-Romaine and Le Pont Du Gard within 90 minutes drive, or there's even an aquaduct just 12 kms away outside Fontaine De Vaucluse that you can walk over.

Spend the day in Avignon with it's beautiful river, old town, Palais Des Papes, festivals, shops, galleries, theatres.

Marsailles too is well worth a visit as of course is Aix en Provence and the Camargue - all easy day trips.

Then there's wine areas in almost every direction where you can taste and buy your wine from the producer.

For the energetic, there are a number of golf clubs a short drive away, horse-riding, cycle and walking tracks in the hills or through the local countryside, or kayaking on the river.

L'Isle has it's own festivals throughout the year, but particularly in summer.

All the local towns also have their own festivals and markets which are well worth checking out if you can bring yourself to leave to delights of L'Isle Sur La Sorgue!

Paris is 2 1/2 hours by TGV comfort from Avignon, you can drive to Barcelona in four hours or have a picnic on the Mediterranean Sea just an hour away. Relax in the village one day and explore further afield the next!


L'isle Sur La Sorgue is famous for it's antique shops and markets and for it's delightful waterways and mossy waterwheels. The old town is charming with little shaded streets and open squares to explore. It has everything you need for a relaxing holiday for a few days, a week or as long as you can spare.

The town is medium size which ensures it is lively all year round; the old town being small enough though that you can become quite familiar with it and walk to everything you need. This home is away from the hustle and bustle but just around the corner!

L'Isle is known as having the largest number of antique and brocante dealers outside of Paris and you can spend many hours browsing their wares and eating in the restaurants you will find amongst them.

It has a selection of galleries showing very high quality artworks, many little stores to browse and too many good cafes, restaurants, wine bars and ice cream shops to sample in one holiday!

The Thursday and Sunday produce markets offer a delightful selection of everything fresh - the hardest part is not buying so much that you don't need to eat out!

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay - it really is a lovely town; the hundreds of years old streets and buildings take us to a different place, time and pace, while the restaurants, markets, little shops and historic streets seem to be made for a really delightful place to holiday.

"Comfortable and Central"

We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay, but sorry there weren't the spare towels and more pillows available in the apartment at the time for you. Our local property manager would have dropped them in to you had she been alerted to this oversight. As for the old doorways not accommodating your 6'8" height - we can only put that down to the charm of heritage; and we hope you didn't bump your head too often! We are pleased you enjoyed the town and your stay with us.

Thanks for your comments - we are pleased you are enjoying your stay. We have found parking on the adjacent square available about half of the times we look, but this will depend on what times you come and go. As you note, at other times there can be a short 3 or 4 minute walk to the apartment from the streets along the river; as others have noted, it is also possible to park in the laneway outside for luggage and shopping drop off etc and when not in use by the adjacent occupiers. "Great apartment & great location"

My wife and I have been renting apartments on trips to Europe for about 10 years now, and we thought this was may be the best apartment overall that we've stayed in. First of all, it's in a great location. It's located in a quiet little nook that is off the beaten path, but it is only a little over a block from one of the main shopping streets of L'Isle Sur La Sorgue. There are bakeries, patisseries, butcher shops, green grocers, wine shops, cafes and restaurants all very close by - even a small supermarket only about 2 blocks away.

The apartment itself is very nice. It's got plenty of space is is very tastefully decorated with antiques, most of whjich are used in a way that is functional as well as decorative.. The bedroom is is large with a nice kingsize bed and plenty of hanging and storage space for clothes. There is a large dining area with an antique farm table that would seat 8 or 10, and a separate sitting room with a with a right-angle sofa.

The owner must be a cook, because this place has the best-equipped kitchen I've ever encountered in a rental apartment. Good knives, well-chosen cookware, a really nice new induction-type stove, a nice Bosch refrigerator/freezer, and a large double sink with spray hose. The kitchen is not overly large but it is very well laid out. We did a good bit of cooking and it really worked out well for us.

There is a small utility room with a combination washer/dryer, that worked really well. The bathroom has a large new-looking counter with two sinks. The shower is ultra-modern with a shower head, a hand-held sprayer and multiple body sprays. The only thing about the shower is that it is a little small. A large person might find it a bit cramped. It worked fine for us. The apartment is completely equipped with all the supplies you would need, like paper towels, toilet paper, soap, cleaning supplies, etc. They only ask that if you use all of something, you replace it.

All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend this property.

"Perfect spot for a honeymoon"

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon . The location couldn't be better - in a secluded quiet impasse and yet right in the middle of the town. The apartment was lovely and full of character - nicely updated but with plenty of old provençale charm. The fast free wifi was a real bonus as it allowed us to look up places to go, and even to upload holiday snaps to family during the stay. The local agent met us at the agreed time to give us the keys and was able to recommend local restaurants for our first evening. We didn't need to contact the agent for anything else, as there were absolutely no problems, but felt quite happy that had there been any problems then there was someone on hand to sort things out.
The markets on Sunday and Thursday are fantastic, and can be found around 1 minute walk from the apartment. The town is full of lovely buildings, nice restaurants, cafés, waterwheels, antique shops, and also a couple of good supermarkets if you need them. The surroundings are beautiful, with Fontaine de Vaucluse only being a few minutes away, a 30 min drive to the old town of Avignon, and the coast - beautiful beaches at Les Saintes Mairies de la Mer - just over an hour drive past Arles and through the Camargue. There are too many beautiful sites to see in just a week - we would love to visit again before too long.
