The casita is a delightful old cottage, used in olden times for shelter for the farmer and his donkey. It is very cosy; warm in winter and cool in summer. It has been completely renovated and is completely self-contained. It has an upstairs sleeping area with a double bed and a double sofa bed downstairs in the large main living area, which also has a logburner for the cooler winter months.
Outside the casita there is a large ironwork pergola, over which grow 2 old vines. These provide a gorgeous feast of grapes in the autumn and from early summer onwards provide cooling shade from the hot sun, ideal to relax under with a nice drink.
The casita is ideal for couples or for a small family group.
We encourage our guests to use water wisely. It is such a precious resource and we try to be as efficient as possible with its use; for example we use the water from the washing up to water the trees outside the casita and we encourage people not to leave taps running while brushing their teeth or their hands.

From the east window in the upstairs bedroom one can see the Mediterranean sea and a great view of the delta area. The sun pours in here in the morning ensuring a bright start to the day! From the west window there is a glorious view of the mountains.
Cooking is carried out over a modern gas hob and microwave oven. All the gas that we use is bottled butane and is very clean. All electricity is full domestic supply and is powered entirely by the sun through our own bank of solar panels. We also have our own borehole for water which is 230m deep, ensuring clean fresh water all year.
This is a perfect spot for groups of friends, couples or families to explore the Costa Dorada and Ebre Delta. There are Roman remains in Tortosa & Tarragona and the Els Ports Park Natural park is not far and has walking, climbing and mountain biking opportunities. If you want flat cycling you can hire our bikes or get some on the Delta itself.
The Ebro Delta area has just been added to the Man and Biosphere program by UNESCO. It is a huge wetland area teeming with wild birds and butterflies whilst at the same time supporting both agriculture, mainly in the form of rice production, and tourism.
There are all types of beaches as close as a 10min some large and deserted some busy with bars and ice-cream available.
All the coastal villages have many bars and restaurants with a wide selection of local and international dishes.
There are potteries, castles, Roman history to visit, vineyards and museums to wander round. The River Ebro and coastal cruises are worth doing and the Honey centre in El Perello has guided tours all year.
Our finca is a marvelous place to explore, there are 300 olive trees to climb or sit under, hammocks to lie in and plenty of places to play hide and seek for children. It covers 3 hectares which is 30,000 sq metres or around 7.5 acres (big enough to park 1000 cars ... but please don´t)

There is a large roof terrace on the main house that is available for guests to use. This has superb views of the sea, the rice fields towards the delta area and the mountains behind us.
The finca is a wonderful place to explore and has a multitude of places where you can feel completely alone and find that quiet moment to catch up on your favourite book or just enjoy some sunbathing.
The swimming pool is at the side of the Casita and has it's own sun terrace. The pool is not supervised so very young children should not be allowed to play there without being accompanied.
We do require a security deposit of €100 for Casita bookings. This is to be paid prior to your holiday to insure against loss or damage. With the best will in the world accidents do happen and we need to make sure everyone is covered for this from the outset.
The Catalunia region
Tarragona was one of the major sites of Roman civilisation in Spain and has many well-preserved sites of historical interest. Closer to us is the mighty River Ebro, world- famous for it's catfish and carp fishing. The Ebro delta is a wonderful place with a great variety of wildlife and birds including hoopoes and eagles.
There is an abundance of wine producing areas such as the great Rioja. Cava is made here too. Vineyard visits are definitely worth the trip.
Venture further afield to Barcelona and see the amazing Gaudi cathedral; the Sagrada Familia, or the famous Ramblas. Barcelona can be reached by express train in under 2 hours and costs very little (unlike British Rail!).
If theme parks are your cup of tea then there is even one of those: Puerto Aventuras, which is only about 40 minutes away by car.
The climate in our area is very kind. The summers are not blisteringly hot and the winters are not freezing cold. We are situated in the south of Catalonia and have got the best climate of all of Catalonia, which itself has better weather than many of its neighbours.
Situated mid-way between Barcelona and Valencia, this is an area famous for it's rice production. The Spanish love Paella and much of Spain's rice is grown here. The region is rich in wildlife and birds and the scenery is stunning, boasting everything from high mountains to beautiful sandy beaches.
An area of outstanding natural beauty, the area is perfect for fishing, walking, mountain-biking, sightseeing or just recharging your batteries away from the stress and strain of the modern world. There are local sports centres and an indoor swimming pool only around 10km from us.

"Wildlife, tranquility and a lovey place to stay"
A really nice place to stay with friendly, helpful people. If you want to do your bit for the planet then this is the place for you. It was easy access for birdwatching the Ebro Delta and mountains with excellent results. A visit to the old town in Tarragona is must. We had a great time being out from just after dawn until dusk. Local restaurants serve excellent food and are great value for money. The small fridge might be a problem in the summer in the summer but I'm sure Simon would find a solution.
Great to have met you both and very pleased that you had such a successful trip. Point taken about the small fridge; will consider a larger one for next summer. Would be lovely to see you again, perhaps at a different time of year when different varieties of birds are visiting? Best wishes, Simon and Amanda

Colin and Mandy are the perfect hosts and made us feel completely at home. We were greeted on arrival with a bottle of olive oil made from olives off the farm, a basket of almonds picked from the farm and a jar of homemade apricot jam (made by Mandy) from same ... all DELICIOUS! The feel of the place is tremendous and the Casita is rustically furnished which fits in exactly right with the surroundings. It is very warm and comfy with lots of windows when you want to let in the cool evening breeze. The chickens (including a rooster!) and ducks provide no end of entertainment with their "rummaging around" all day in the dirt. And the dogs are such lovely animals and just add to that "homely" feel. All in all a wonderful place to retreat to when life in the fast lane becomes way too fast and you need time to wind down, sit, relax, contemplate life and breath in the fresh air. JUST FABULOUS!
We are very pleased with your recommendation. It was a pleasure to have you here and we really enjoyed your company. Will keep in touch !

"perfect for a quiet restful holiday"
perfect place to stay if looking for a quiet holiday. owners of casita were really friendly and came away feeling they were friends. accommodation clean, tidy and comfortable. Car is needed as a beautiful beach is approx. 6 miles away and the casita is located off the main routes. Happily go again, have plans to do just that.
So pleased that you found our home in the sun. We really enjoyed meeting you and hope that you went home as refreshed as you both looked at the end of your holiday. Hope to see you again one day.
