About the home

Casa Heather is a luxury, air-conditioned villa which is very suitable for two families to holiday together in comfort. Situated on a quiet estate near the working fishing town of L'Ametlla de Mar, it is close to lovely unspoilt beaches and only 25 minutes from Port Aventura Theme Park and Costa Caribbe Water Park.

There are two master bedrooms, one with large en-suite shower room and the other with its own bathroom and access to the roof sun terrace. There are two twin bedded rooms with a another bathroom situated between. A folding bed can be provided to accommodate a 9th person.

The large garden has plenty of patio area for sunbathing, comfortable sun beds, a built-in bar style barbecue, outside lighting, table and chairs for alfresco dining and off-road parking for two cars.

Both of the master bedrooms have king-size beds. There is a fold-up single bed to accommodate a 9th person. Two travel cots and high chairs can be provided by prior arrangement.

One master bedroom with access to the roof terrace and adjoining bathroom is upstairs. The other master bedroom with very large en-suite shower room, the two twin bedded rooms and family bathroom are all downstairs. There is a also a large utility room, housing the washing machine, which is ideal for storage of empty suitcases etc.

There are air-conditioning units in both master bedrooms and the lounge. The other two bedrooms have electric fans.

The lounge has a 32" flat screen TV with English satellite showing BBC, ITV, C4 and Sky News channels. There is a good selection of English books, DVDs and board games.

There is a large table with 8 chairs and a smaller table with four chairs for outside dining.

The gradually maturing garden has a variety of shrubs and trees, including a lemon tree and colourful bougainvillea. The garden and swimming pool are illuminated at night and there is a large bar style barbecue.

There is extensive paved patio area and plenty of comfortable sunbeds are provided.

The Costa Dorada/Tarragona region

The Costa Dorada is Spain's "Gold Coast" and boasts seemingly endless miles of uncrowded golden sandy beaches and clean shallow waters. This is a largely unspoilt region of Spain and there are few high rise buildings.

Universal Studios Port Aventura, considered to be the best theme park in Spain, and the Costa Caribbe Water Park are approximately 25 minutes from the villa by car.

Barcelona, the European city of culture, is situated 90 minutes from the villa by road and is a truly fascinating city to visit. There is a good inexpensive train service from L'Ametlla and the journey takes just under 2 hours. The historic city of Reus and the ancient city of Tarragona with its Roman buildings and amphitheatre are 30 minutes drive away. The picturesque village of Miravet is also about 30 mins away. The unique experience of reaching the village by a ferry that uses only the current of the River Ebro as a driving force, the Knights Templar Castle, an amazing pottery shop and spectacular views across the River Ebro make a visit to Miravet really worthwhile.

Towards the South is the Ebro Delta Natural Park, famous for its pink flamingo’s and monstrous catfish. This is a haven for fishermen and fishing is permitted along the public areas of the River Ebro, although a fishing licence must be purchased from the local village town hall.

For golfers, the Golf Club de Bonmont, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and considered to be one of the finest golf courses in Catalonia, is at Mont-Roig del Camp, Tarragona.

The L'Ametlla de Mar / Tres Calas area

The villa is situated on the peaceful urbanization of Tres Calas, which is set against a backdrop of wonderful mountain views and has its own three beaches (all within 5 or 10 minutes drive of the villa). At the entrance to the estate there is a supermarket, bakery, two bars and a restaurant.

The typical Spanish fishing town of L’Ametlla de Mar is approximately 4km away and has a train station and a variety of shops, bars and restaurants. The fishing boats return late afternoon and you can sit at one of the many bars and restaurants in the harbour area and watch as they unload their catch.

The nearest airports are Reus and Barcelona, both of which are well served by the low cost airlines. Ryan Air fly into Reus, whilst Easyjet have a frequent service to Barcelona. Reus is only 30 minutes drive from the villa and Barcelona is approximately 90 minutes. Car hire at both airports is easily obtainable online and is best booked in advance.
