The Costa Dorada/Tarragona region
Las Tres Calas beaches are undoubtedly one of its best attractions. Their fine golden sand and clean shallow waters continue to captivate the tourists who visit year after year. Port Aventura in near by Salou, has an adventure and aqua park with plenty of aquatic attractions. When night falls, Salou's bars, discos and night clubs burst into life - most staying open at least into the early hours, many carrying on until breakfast!The villa is 90 min drive or a 75 min train ride from the famous city of Barcelona, which holds one of the best football teams in Europe. “FC Barcelona”. So why not take a day out and visit the famous ground of `Camp Nou´. This famous football stadium holds a 100,000 all seated capacity and a trophy museum which houses the original European cup. You can also take a guided tour of Barcelona from one of its many open air buses which stop at all the attractions such architecture by Gaudi or paintings from Picasso and much more, do not forget the very famous `Las Ramblas´ which is heaving with street entertainers, bars, cafes and restaurants. A visit to Antoni Gaudi’s temple “La Sagrada Familia” is a unique experience, a continuing work of art. Barcelona is also a shopper’s heaven as it holds some of the finest fashion outlets and boutiques in Europe. One city you will never forget.
L'Ametlla de Mar / Tres Calas area
Casa Montana is close to the beautiful and unspoilt fishing village of L'Ametlla De Mar. Here you will find real “Catalan” life in the heart of a typical Catalonian village. The village has many restaurants and bars, being surrounded by many local shops and supermarkets. In the varied restaurants you can find some of the finest Mediterranean cuisine and wines at wonderfully low prices. The spectacular sandy beaches are a delight to see and sunbathe upon but if you are one who delights in having your own space, then your own private pool is a wonderful way to relax and unwind. The villa is near to a small commercial centre which has 3 bars, 2 restaurants and a small well stocked supermarket. There are two Golf courses which are for the more discerning golfer, par 3 pitch & put, and for those who just want to have some fun, crazy golf. The villa is a 20 min drive from the magnificent River Ebro, for those keen fishermen this is one of the best fishing rivers in Europe. For Cat fishing or Carping this is a fantastic day out whilst on your holiday. Boat & rod hire and any further information on fishing on the River Ebro are also available. There are many local markets on everyday which are an absolute joy just to “potter” around and savor the atmosphere or maybe even find a bargain! You can even try making your own terracotta pot in the beautiful village of Miravett, or maybe you might even fancy wine tasting trip in Falset.
How to get there
Ryanair, one of the major low cost airlines, flies into our local airport of Reus. This is only 25 mins from the villa. Easyjet, another low cost airline, flies into Barcelona, this is 90 mins from the villa. There are of course several other airlines that fly into Reus and Barcelona airports. We recommend you hire a car as this will enable you to get the best out of your holiday. The local train that runs from the nearby town of L'Ametlla De Mar services the adventure park of Port Aventura and Salou as well as connecting to the major Spanish train network. There are many car rental companies based at Reus airport, we would recommend Sol-mar rent a car.
