About the home

The villa, with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, is situated in a quiet residential estate with views of the mountains and only five minutes from several unspoiled beaches on the Costa Dorada. The fishing village of L’Ametlla de Mar is a few minutes drive and the Universal Studios theme park in Salou is less than 30 minutes away. This area is a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts with several golf courses close by, plenty of great fishing spots, water sports and spectacular hiking along the often-rugged coastline.

Alternatively, you can relax in the private grounds of the villa and enjoy the swimming pool, built in brick barbecue, off road parking and the roof terrace for sun bathing. The villa has a king-size bed in the master bedroom and is equipped to a very high standard.

The modern kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday, including a dishwasher, microwave, large fridge/freezer and coffee maker.

The master bedroom with a king size bed has a spacious en suite bathroom. The second bedroom, with a double bed and the third bedroom with two single beds, share a family bathroom with bath and shower. The open plan lounge has a sofa bed that can sleep 2. All bedrooms contain fitted wardrobes.

The villa includes a satellite television with English channels, stereo system, DVD player, iron, ironing board, hair dryers and an electronic safe in the master bedroom large enough for a laptop computer.

There is a large patio and BBQ area, 6 garden chairs and 4 sunbeds.

The gradually maturing garden has a variety of shrubs, including colourful bougainvilla plants.

There is also a roof terrace accessed via an outdoor spiral staircase for great views and a pleasant place to watch the sunset.

An outdoor shower (not enclosed) is located near the swimming pool.

Further details

Linens and towels are provided. The villa is cleaned and towels and bed linens are changed weekly.

A cot and a high chair are available by prior arrangement.

The local villa manager speaks both English and French.

Payment is also accepted in Euros and US Dollars.

The Costa Dorada/Tarragona region

The picturesque coast of the Costa Dorada, or the Gold Coast, features terrific beaches, charming, manicured villages and intriguing history and culture. The region gets its name from the colour of the fine golden sand on miles of huge beaches, which local residents take considerable pride in keeping clean. The waters along this part of the Mediterranean Sea are clean and shallow, making this area very appropriate for families with children.

And of course, the children will not want to miss the world class theme park--the Universal Studios Port Aventura. There are literally hundreds of rides, ranging from gentle rides for the little ones to exciting roller coasters. You’ll find the only 8 looped roller coaster in the world in the park. Port Aventura and the adjoining Costa Caribbe Water Park are approximately 25 minutes from the villa by car.

For those interested in history and culture, the villa is well situated for easy day trips to many beautiful cities and towns. You won’t want to miss seeing Barcelona, the European city of culture, with its fascinating art, architecture, food, and style. Barcelona is a 90 minute drive from the villa by road. There is also a good inexpensive train service from L'Ametlla and the journey takes just under 2 hours.

The historic city of Reus, with an abundance of shops, and the ancient city of Tarragona with its Roman buildings and amphitheatre are each 30 minutes drive away.

The picturesque village of Miravet is also about 30 minutes drive away from the villa. The village is best reached by ferry that uses only the current of the River Ebro as a driving force. You can also visit the Knights Templar Castle, and amazing clay pottery workshops while enjoying spectacular views.

Towards the South is the Ebro Delta Natural Park, one of the largest wetland areas in the Mediterranean region, and provides habitat for over 300 species of birds. It is famous for its pink flamingoes and monstrous catfish. This is a very popular spot for fisherman, and fishing is permitted along the public areas of the River Ebro (although a fishing license must be purchased from the local village town hall).

For golfers, there are many fine golf courses within a half hour drive by car from the villa. One of the best--Golf Club de Bonmont, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and considered to be one of the finest golf courses in Catalonia, is at Mont-Roig del Camp, Tarragona.

The L'Ametlla de Mar / Tres Calas area

The villa is located in the southern part of the Costa Dorada, in Tres Calas (The Three Coves), a small estate with two bars, a restaurant, a supermarket and bakery located at the entrance to the estate, all within a short walk from the villa. Tres Calas has its own three uncrowded beaches, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The beaches are all within 5 to 10 minutes drive from the villa.

The typical fishing village of L’Ametlla de Mar is a five-minute drive away and has many bars, restaurants and shops. The fishing boats can be seen returning to port with their day’s catch in the early evening. It has a train station for easy access to Barcelona.

L’Ametlla has both sandy and pebble beaches, cliffs and coves making it one of the most beautiful and unspoiled coastlines in Spain. There are also many historic towns and castles to visit in the nearby area.

Both Reus and Barcelona airports are served by low cost airlines. Ryan Air flies into Reus, a 25-minute drive away and Easy Jet fly into Barcelona, an hour and 25 minute drive.

Rental cars can easily be picked up at both airports and the train to L’Ametlla de Mar can be taken from Barcelona.
