About this location
The Turkish Aegean Coast region
The Aegean Coast possesses some of the most spectacular and significant of Turkey's archaeological sites with a rich cultural legacy from early Greek, Roman and Ottoman civilisations. The ancient cities of Ephesus and Troy are permeated with the past, where amphitheatres, chariot-rutted streets and columns reek of historical importance. It was here that St Paul laid the foundations for the beginnings of Christianity, and where the face of legendary beauty, Helen of Troy, 'launched a thousand ships'.
Besides historical attractions, the Aegean is known for its magnificent coastal scenery and long stretches of sandy beaches, where pine trees and olive groves clad the hills surrounding popular resorts like Bodrum and Kusadasi. Inland, the calcium-rich mineral springs that surge over the edge of a mountain plateau at Pamukkale form Turkey's leading mineral spa and is one of the most celebrated natural attractions in the area. The city of Izmir, once famous for its figs, is today the modern capital of the region, and a major port and busy commercial centre, with good hotels and restaurants.
With its clean, sandy beaches, sublime scenery and nearby significant archaeological sites, the popular resort town of Kusadasi is a favourite port of call for cruise ships on Turkey's Aegean Coast. Hordes of tourists holiday in Kusadasi during the season, touts ensuring they cram in the bazaar, beaches, dozens of restaurants, cafes, pubs & nightclubs.
Kusadasi's clean, sandy beaches are a major drawcard for holidaymakers, whether simply for sunbathing and swimming, or for indulging in a myriad of watersports that are on offer through local operators at the numerous 'beach clubs'. The turquoise Aegean waters are particularly popular for scuba diving and snorkelling. A variety of boat trips are also available. Water-babies will also enjoy Kusadasi's three thrilling aqua-parks, Aquafantasy, Adaland and Longbeach Aquaresort. Away from the water active holiday-makers can indulge in a horse-back safari, or head off on a jeep safari to get down and dirty on muddy nature trails in nearby Dilek Peninsula National Park. The surrounding region of Anatolia is crammed with interesting historical and archaeological sites and dozens of excursions are available for visitors to explore these, particularly the ruins of ancient Ephesus.

"Great villa, great location, great concierge, shame about ....."
I have just returned from Villa Annie, where I was on holiday with a large group (11 of us). The accommodation suited our needs perfectly. We found the villa to be spacious, clean, well appointed and close to all amenities. Ken, our concierge at the villa, provided a first-class service. He was useful, helpful, friendly but never over-bearing or intrusive. His advice on places to eat and places to visit made the trip much more enjoyable. He'll explain how to get to all the local markets for the best fresh food. He has a list of fine restaurants that range in price, and has links in the local community that ensure a first-class deal... No problem was too big or small. For example, one of the toilets was playing up and Ken had it fixed within hours. A friendly pool man visited every other day to keep the pool clean. There was also a maintenance manager on hand too.
The villa has a private beach and this is cleaned daily. There are also water-sports and a beach bar close by. A local shop carries a few essentials but for more comprehensive shopping there is Kippa, a huge supermarket just 10 mins away. A local bus (Dalmas) to Kippa will cost 1.5TL. A Dalmas into Kusudasi town costs 2TL (60p).
Our group comprised friends and family, with a big range in ages, however the villa and the location worked for all of us.
One downside was the disco from the local hotel. This could be too noisey for some people and too noisey for us at times...Otherwise I would recommend this villa unreservedly
