Our roomy first floor apartment with balcony is 2 kilometres from Siilinjarvi town centre and 25 kilometres from the City of Kuopio, which is the cultural capital for Eastern Finland. This is an area of spectacular unspoilt scenery of forests and lakes.
In winter time the famous ski centre of Tahkovuori is only 40 minutes drive away. There are also ski slopes accessible by local bus. Forest walks and cross country ski tracks are adjacent to our property.
In the summer enjoy cruising on steam boats from Kuopio harbour or spend a lazy day on the nearby beach in this magnificent unspoilt landscape.

The Eastern Finland region
Finland is in the EU and the majority of the population, especially younger folk, have a good command of English. The Finns have adopted the Euro as their currency.
The Kuopio region is regarded as one of the most beautiful areas of Finland because of its location in the Finnish lakeland. There are estimated to be over 66 000 lakes in Finland so the scenery is spectacular.
Finnish winters ensure that winter sports are enjoyed by all with cross country and downhill skiing facilities. June, July and August are the main summer months with similar temperatures to the UK. Cross country / forest ski tracks 100 metres from apartment. These are used for walking in the summer time.
Kuopio / Siilinjarvi area
Our apartment is situated in one of Europe's most unspoilt areas. In the summer the spectacular lakeland and forest scenery is uncrowded and a delight. This is an ideal location if you enjoy nature and want some peace and quiet. Boat hire is available in Kuopio.
The nearest supermarket/restaurant is 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Siilinjarvi town centre boasts an indoor swimming pool complex with the longest slides in Finland, as well as coffee shops and very good supermarkets.

How to get there
The nearest airport to our apartment is Kuopio airport, a short 15 minute drive away. There are regular daily scheduled flights from Helsinki to Kuopio by Blue1 and Finnair. All the major scheduled airlines fly into Helsinki from the UK and other European cities (Blue1, Finnair, BA, KLM, SAS etc.) Ryanair also fly to Finland (Tampere airport) but this is a 3-hour-drive away from the apartment. Useful websites to purchase airline tickets include ryanair.com and lastminute.com Car hire is available from leading European car hire companies and the car can be collected at the airport if required.
