Home description

Manyeleti Lodge is located next to the 7th Tee of the Kruger Park Lodge resort, a luxury 4 star golf resort set on the banks of the Sabie River near the town of Hazyview which is known as the gateway to the world renowned Kruger National Park and the hub of adventure activities in the Lowveld.

The lodge has a stunning view over the lake from the patio. It is beautifully furnished and offers superb accommodation with two double en-suite bedrooms and two twin bedrooms. There is a spacious open plan living and dining area and fully fitted kitchen. The living room opens onto a covered patio with a built in barbeque. The patio is connected to extensive decking, also leading into the living area and the main bedroom. There is patio furniture to enable you to dine al fresco or just relax during the day listening to the numerous birds that frequent the surrounding bush. From the deck there are stairs leading to a garden area from where you can walk to the lake and or hippo hide.

The resort has a Gary Player-designed 9 hole golf course (with 18 tees), pro shop, flood lit tennis courts, swimming pools, crazy golf, billiard table, dart boards, giant chess and for younger children a playground and trampolines. There is a restaurant / coffee shop serving meals, snacks and drinks throughout the day.

The wildlife within the resort includes Impalas and Vervet monkeys and many smaller mammals. If you're lucky you might be able to spot the white-tailed mongoose . Birds abound and small reptiles can be seen soaking up the sun - look out for the legavaans. The hippo hide is a firm favourite to sit and watch the resident hippos lazing in the dam.

The lodge is only 10 minutes from the Phabeni gate of the Kruger National Park making self drive game viewing trips a must. Here you can see the 'Big 5' - elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo. The Kruger Park contains the world's greatest variety of wildlife species where, to name a few more, cheetah, hippo, wildebeest, impala, crocodile etc. can be seen. Not forgetting the amazing 507 bird species.

The Mpumalanga region

The province of Mpumalanga is one of South Africa’s most popular destinations and The Panorama area in which Hazyview is located offers a kaleidoscope of breathtaking scenery and natural beauty. The lodge is just 30 – 40 minutes from the vantage points and view sites of God's Window; The Pinnacle; Blyde River Canyon, the world's third largest canyon and biggest green canyon; the Three Rondavels and Bourke’s Luck potholes.

Take a trip into the past by visiting Pilgrim’s Rest. A quaint town which is actually a living museum, the history of this area dates back to 1873 when it was officially proclaimed a gold field.

See waterfalls cascading down gorges and valleys near the towns of Sabie and Graskop. The arts and crafts and theatre in White River and the hustle and bustle of Nelspruit. If you are close to Nelspruit, take the opportunity to visit Sudwala Caves, the oldest caves in the world. But don't forget the most famous national park in the world - the Kruger National Park.

Kruger Park / Hazyview area

Holidaying in this area is mainly about wildlife and game. Besides the self drive game viewing in the Kruger Park, you can also book a drive in an open top 4x4 safari vehicle. Early morning, sunset or night drives are the most rewarding. For those who are more adventurous, a walking safari could be more entertaining or try a 4x4 trail.

You can also visit the numerous animal rehabilitation centres to see the dedicated people who look after the wildlife. Located just over an hours drive away, Moholoholo is a well known haven for the rehabilitation and care of abandoned, injured and poisoned wildlife. Other centres include the Endangered Species and Cheetah Breeding Centre and Khamai Reptile Park.

Locally there are many activities to keep one entertained or the chance to try something different. Many of these can be booked by reception at the resort.

• Interact with Elephants
• Shangana Cultural Village
• See the views on a microlight
• Hot air ballooning
• Nature walks and hiking trails
• Quad Biking
• White water river rafting
• Kloofing
• Wall climbing
• Paintball
• Horseriding
• Canoeing
• Abseiling

Don't forget to bring - Binoculars, camera (with spare film, or digital disc and batteries). Walking shoes, sun hat. Warm clothing for winter especially for early morning and night game drives. Insect repellent cream or spray, especially for night game drives and outdoor evening activities.

As Hazyview is a hub for tourists there are many good restaurants in the area to try out. Again, reception at the resort will point you in the right direction.

GOLF
If you are a keen golfer, there are other courses to play besides the one at Kruger Park Lodge.

- Sabie River Golf Course. Par 74 - 18 holes. Located about 7 minutes from the lodge. Watch out for the resident hippos and crocodiles.

- Skukuza Golf Course - 9 holes. Located within the Kruger National Park (30 minutes from the lodge). You never know what could be lurking behind the bushes. The 9th hole is over Lake Panic (which should tell you everything you need to know.) This is the only course within the boundaries of a national park. Presidents, politicians, captains of industry and well known golfers have walked its unfenced fairways.

- Pilgrims Rest Golf Course - 9 holes. (45 minutes from the lodge) Located on the banks of a small stream.

- White River Golf Course. Par 71 - 18 holes. (45 minutes from the lodge) The course follows the natural undulations of a valley.

- Nelspruit Golf Course. Par 71 - 18 holes. (1,5 hrs from the lodge) Look out for over 256 different species of birds.

- Hans Merensky Golf Course - Par 74 - 18 holes. (2 hours from the lodge) Located in the mining town of Phalaborwa. Again animal sightings are a regular occurrence.
