The Limpopo Province region

South Africa's northern province Limpopo is the land of myths, legends, beautiful scenery and landscape, as well as majestic Baobab trees. Limpopo is the northern most province of our beautiful land of South Africa.
The province shares borders with the neighbouring SADC (Southern Africa Development Community) countries of Botswana in the western side, Mozambique on the east and Zimbabwe in the north.
Its proximity to all these SADC countries makes Limpopo the perfect springboard for exploring the riches of this exciting part of the African continent.
They call it the Great North. On the surface, it is a broad, boundless area, a landscape tanning itself in the heat of the African sun. However, let this not deter you because a look beyond reveals a land of immense beauty that brings interest and entertainment in generous amounts.
These are ancient lands, attested by the recently encrypted Mapungubwe World heritage site in the Limpopo Valley and Makapans Caves near Mokopane (Potgietersrus).
Limpopo is a land of beautiful and contrasting landscape, which is typical of Africa hence it has become a favourite destination for leisure and adventure travellers worldwide. Come to a region of infinite scenic beauty with a great diversity of natural and manmade attractions, rich cultural heritage and an abundance of wildlife and nature-based tourism opportunities
The Kruger Park/Limpopo / Phalaborwa area
This little town which has so often been regarded as an oasis of the North due to the many palm trees, bougainvillea, lush greenery and tropical fruit trees that fill the gardens and line the streets, completely detracts from the fact that it is in fact, a mining town. Yes, copper, vermiculite, phosphate and numerous other minerals are mined here. One of the largest open pit copper mines in the world, is just one of the many sites to see from a lookout point which also gives a panoramic view of the extensive area of industrial, residential and natural bushveld in this region.
Within a day’s drive, one can visit various projects including the White Lions of Timbavati, the Wild Dog breeding and preservation sanctuary, Cheetah breeding game lodge and even walk with lions and elephant under the guidance of well trained guides. Numerous other places of interest as well as cultural experiences await you within this area.
The Kruger National Park needs little introduction as this wonderful and reasonably priced “adventure” can be considered the creme del la creme of South African tourism. Experience the excitement of finding among all other animals, “The Big Five”! The wonder of the bush, night drives, the magnificent sunsets and the taste of foods prepared on the open fire.
