Fully renovated internally & externally in recent years The Podkoren Apartments are located in an attractive stone & timber framed building on one side of the main square and have an independent entrance - ideal for larger groups wishing to rent both flats. The professionally designed interiors are of an exceptionally high quality with solid wood furnishings throughout giving a wonderful cosy alpine experience. The ground floor apartment features a very large open plan living room, dining area and kitchen, with access out onto a sunny terrace, bathroom, one double bedroom and one twin room (bunk beds).

The Gorenjska region
The Gorenjska region is home to Slovenia's most beautiful scenery, the stunning Julian Alps and the Triglav National Park. The Julian Alps are renowned for their beauty, accessibility & a multitude of outdoor activities. Podkoren is a charming and typical Slovenian alpine village in an excellent position for exploring these wonderful mountains, just 2km from Kranjska Gora & the Austrian & Italian borders. The famous Tamar Valley (home of the world famous Planica ski jump centre) is just a few minutes away & a breathtaking place for walking, as it the whole Triglav National park accessible from Kranjska Gora.
Watersports on the Soca river are easily accessible for daytrips as are the famous lakes at Bohinj & Bled. As for skiing it is easily possible to ski a different resort every day for a week [Kranjska Gora (Slo) - walking distance to world cup pistes, Tarvisio (IT) Arnoldstein (Aus) - 30mins, Kanin, Vogel & Krvavec (Slo), Sella Nevea (It), Gerlitzen & Nassfeld (Aus) - 60mins]. In the Kranjska Gora area there are an abundance of tourist facilities, from restaurants to bars, shops, spas & pools.
Kranjska Gora / Podkoren area
The area offers an abundance of outdoor activities in beautiful natural surroundings and a wide choice of restaurants, bars and shops and other tourist facilities including spa and pools. In Winter skiing is close at hand - it is walking distance to the world cup ski pistes at Podkoren or a 2km to the Kranjska Gora nursery slopes.
A few minutes drive away there is a large Nordic skiing centre & a world cup ski jump and a huge range of other Winter activities from ice skating to a school where you can learn to drive sled dogs. There are two other ski resorts within half an hours drive - Arnoldstein in Austria and the excellent resort of Tarvisio Monte Lussari in Italy. 7 more ski resorts are within 30-60 mins drive making it possible to try a very wide range of resorts in 3 countries in a single trip.
In Summer there is a wealth of superb mountain walking nearby as well as other sports including mountain biking, horse-riding, swimming (2 local pools) and a Summer sledging piste. Alternatively just taking in the scenery the sunny terrace is highly recommended!

Further details indoors: The ground floor apartment has a very large open plan living room, dining room, kitchen with balcony doors out onto a terrace with bench seating for outdoor eating in Summer months. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and bedroom 2 has a bunk bed for 2 people. The living area has comfortable handmade Austrian style cushioned bench seating which doubles as twin sofabed accommodation for 2 people. The dining area is spacious and comfortable and in proximity to the kitchen area. Furnishing throughout is of an extremely high quality.
There is an additional apartment on the first floor - please enquire.
