The Gorenska region
Podkoren has two distinct holiday seasons.
In winter it is a ski resort and home to the World Championship downhill slalom, as featured on Channel 4.
In summer it offers a multitude of outdoor activities.
This apartment faces directly towards the World Championship ski runs which are literally just two minutes walk away. These link into the ski runs in neighbouring Kranjska Gora offering plenty of variety for all abilities. Skiing lessons are available at the adjacent, far gentler, slopes.
Neighbouring Kranjska Gora is a traditional yet modern resort and is excellent for those who want to learn skiing or to develop their skills. It also has a dedicated toboggan run. Skiing lessons and equipment rental in Slovenia are considerably cheaper than in neighbouring countries.
In the summer months Podkoren offers walking, hiking, mountain climbing, horse riding and mountain biking. A new mountain biking couse has just been completed and is very popular. It's rivers and valleys are also home to many adventurous water sports. Golf is available locally and at nearby Bled. For those who just want to relax it provides peace and quiet in a country the size of Wales but with just two million inhabitants.
