The Carpathian/Polish Mountains region

Lesser Poland has four national parks and numerous reserves have been established in the voivodeship to protect the environment of Lesser Poland. The region has areas for tourism and recreation, including Zakopane (Poland's most popular winter resort) and the Tatra, Pieniny and Beskidy Mountains. The natural landscape features many historic sites. The salt mine at Wieliczka, the pilgrimage town of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, and Kraków's Old Town are ranked by UNESCO among the most precious sites of world heritage. At Wadowice, birthplace of John Paul II (50 kilometers southwest of Kraków) is a museum dedicated to the late Pope's childhood. The area of O?wi?cim, with the former Nazi concentration camps Auschwitz-I and Auschwitz-II-Birkenau, is visited annually by a million people. Another tourist destination is the town of Bochnia with its salt mine, Europe's oldest.

Tatra Mountains, the highest mountains in Poland are the only part of Carpathians, that present extremely Alpine characteristics, it means there are five climatic-vegetation belts in the mountains.

However, Tatra Mountains differ from the Alps for sure in respect of their lengthiness. At similar peak heights (circa 2300 metres) the mountain range is very short and narrow. The length of Tatra Mountains as the crow flies amounts to 53 kilometres, whereas the length along the main ridge on almost entire length both along the tourist route as well as the border between Poland and Slovakia, 80 kilometres. The width of the Tatra Mountains is “up to” 30 km. On the territory of Slovakia and Polish Podhale there are many places, from which it is possible to admire their full splendour with no difficulty. The impression of fairy-tale character of the scenery and the vastness of the mountains is enhanced by the peculiar geological landscape construction. Both on the southern and on the northern side there are large tectonic valleys, with gentle 1000 meter hills behind them. Tatra Mountains seen from Podhale and lighted up by the morning sun actually constitutes the most beloved theme for Polish landscape photographers.

Krakow, Poland's former capital, Krakow is a city with a fascinating past, covered in beautiful buildings and set beside the Vistula River. Discover art, museums and music, as well as the famous dragon, when you visit.

This charismatic city has one of the largest medieval town squares in Europe and plenty of hidden gems to discover, too, from the weird and wonderful Wieliczka salt mine to the church where trumpets sound every day. After dark you will be entertained with a range of jazz clubs, pubs and bars serving affordable drinks, whilst there are cool festivals that take place at all hours, such as the Film Festival.

Whether you choose to explore the historical Jewish Quarter, the castle or the zoo, there really is something here for everyone with a passion for culture. No wonder Krakow is so popular!

It is very calm and relaxing area.

Please try to do not smoke inside. Just smoke at balcony or at apartment building entry area.

"Good value accommodation in lovely city"

Found apartment easily however it is a 1 bedroom apartment not 2 as advertised, not a major problem for us as our daughter slept on sofa bed. Apartment tidy and very quiet, wifi very useful. Lovely … More

Thank you very much for your references. I was trying to contact you on Saturday, but you had already left. Thank you for perfect rooms conditions.
