CHATEAU CARMAN

peace, tranquility, and privacy,
Chateau carman will comfortably accommodate 12 people with 6 double bedrooms, and four bathrooms
all bedrooms & lounge are fully air-conditioned apart from the top floor which has the benefit of floor fans

the ground floor has a large lounge area with an ornate fireplace, with an open plan large modern kitchen

the lounge has french doors leading out on to the terrace, it is furnished with 2 settee beds a tv and dvd player as well as coffee tables

there is a separate wc on the ground floor as well as a double en suite bedroom , this bedroom consists of 2 single beds & built in wardrobes

the 1st floor consists master bedroom with 2 french doors leading out onto a large balcony overlooking the farm and another door leading out onto a intercommunicating balcony overlooking the pool area

there is a further 3 large bedrooms on this landing, and a shared bathroom
on the top floor there is a huge L shaped room with 2 french doors leading out onto the terrace which overlooks the farm and the lake in the distance
this room can be used to sleep 4 people or as a lounge, it has a shower wc on the landing

the basement and laundry room is set aside for staff storage & ironing etc

all the balconies are furnished with chairs and a coffee table

2 BEDROOM APARTMENT

there is a further 2 bed self contained apartment purposely built for the small family or group, this contains a lounge & a kitchen plus the wc shower, one bedroom contains a double bed and the other contains 2 single beds
the lounge contains a settee, a tv and dvd as well as table and chairs
the apartment benefits from a large balcony overlooking the farm and swimming pool

SWIMMING POOL

the swimming pool is 10 x 15 meters, it is 1 meter deep at the shallow end & 1.7 meters at the deep end
it has its own terrace area with lounges, along with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains

adjoining the swimming pool area is a covered bbq / kitchen area with a roll down canopy, where breakfasts/dinners and suppers are cooked and served on summer days
the bbq is 2 meters long with adjoining granite sink and drainer,
this area is equipped with a water chiller,a cooker and a fridge / freezer etc
there are numerous cupboards and draws under the worktop, there is also an adjoining wc and a changing room shower

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Koycegiz and the surrounding areas are a photographer's paradise with its beautiful lake and the surrounding mountains, ideal for cycling, walking, bird watching as well as fishing, the weather is superb From the months of May right the way through to October you can enjoy blue skies and sunshine. there is plenty of wild life to see such as the large tortoises, storks, eagles and much more

PLACES TO EAT
in koycegiz town you can find restaurants serving some of the special soups such as tripe soup, pacha soup and kebab soup, you can also eat turkish pizza ( Lahmacun ) there are also plenty of fresh fish restaurants serving sea bass, bream, even carp and all freshly caught, my personal favourite dining place is the alila hotel

BOAT TRIPS
just outside the alila hotel you can book boat trips to sultaniye mud and thermal baths, the trip takes you past dalyan and the kings tombs carved into the rocks, this then goes on to turtle beach and on the return journey they cook you a good meal

KOYCEGIZ WATER FALL
Only ten minutes drive from chateau carman, this is a natural beauty spot, where on some occasions i have had the place to myself, you can reach the waterfall by walking along a small ravine and then down some steep steps
it is well worth a visit where you can enjoy a swim in the ice cold water straight from the mountain

SULTANIYE MUD BATHS AND THERMAL SPRINGS
by boat or a 25 minute drive, the views of the lake on route are beautiful

EKINCIK
Ekincik is a 45 minute drive from chateau carman driving past sultaniye into the mountains and then down into this beautiful remote bay with its beautiful beaches, the locals call it hidden paradise

BEYOBASI
around 15 minutes drive from chateau carman, there is a selection of restaurants built over a fast flowing crystal clear ice cold river flowing straight out of the mountains
here you can enjoy freshly cooked fish or tandir kebab and if you dare try swimming in this glacier water

MARMARIS
about 45 minutes drive from chateau carman you come to the popular and cosmopolitan tourist resort of marmaris, here you can spend the day shopping in airconditioned malls, there are numerous clothes, jewelry, and souvenir shops, there are also plenty of bars and restaurants
there are watersports and boat trips which take place during the day and evenings, on these trips you will be entertained by singers and belly dancing and during the trip you will also be served a good meal

Dalyan
Pretty village, set on the pretty river that links koycegiz lake to the sea. There are lots of shops, restaurants and cafes, many set along side the river. You can also get many boat trips from here or get ferried across the river and visit the caves of Kounos and the ancient city of Kounos and amphitheatre.

there are so many other places for you to discover such as the beautiful beaches of serigerme, fethiye and olu deniz, dalyan, part of the fun of hiring a car is to discover some of the hidden beauty spots and they are almost around every corner

Koycegiz area

.Köyceğiz is located within the district of Muğla. Muğla is on Turkey's Aegean coast. Köyceğiz is a beautiful town which is situated at the northern end of Köyceğiz Lake, an environment which is being preserved as a nature and wildlife preserve. Close to the Mugla-Fethiye highway it is easily accessible and yet far away enough to be peaceful and tranquil. Surrounded by mountains you feel relaxed and at one with nature.

The history of Köyceğiz goes back to 3400 B.C. The first civilized community in Köyceğiz were the Carians. Later the Asurians, Lonians, Persians, Romans, Seljuks,and Ottomans came. The ancient city of Caunos, where the Köycegiz Lake joins the Meditteranean Sea, was one of the most important ports and trade centres of Carians.

Köyceğiz offers a quiet life in a traditional Turkish town yet has all modern facilities. On Mondays there is a large bustling market which both locals from the surrounding area or bussed in by Dolmus (local transport) and tourists (who often travel accross the lake) both enjoy. Bargains are sure to be had as well as fresh fruit and vegetables.
you can stock up on fresh farm eggs, cheese, home made yoghurts and butter and much more

The Lake Köyceğiz is often said to be as smooth as glass" till noon and then great for wind surfing in the afternoon. The Köyceğiz Lake contains almost every kind of seafood from fish to crab. The far side of the Lake is a maze of channels walled with reeds which is like a natural labyrinth. You can traverse by boat through these channels to nearby Dalyan which is a popular tourist resort and has many bars and restaurants. On the way you can see the amazing Rock Tombs, carved into the cliff face above the ancient harbour city of Caunos. Alternatively you can drive along aromatic frankincense tree lined roads to Daylan

Further along the Dalyan Delta you can reach Iztuzu beach, which is another nature conservation area and refuge for sea turtles (Caretta Carretta) and blue crabs.

The Dalaman River is an ideal race course for rafting enthusiasts of different abilities. Rafting is increasingly a popular sport at the area since 1994. The Struggle with yourself and nature, group work and success are the basic instruments of rafting. Anyone at any age who can swim can join rafting at the Dalaman River.

one of the things i most look forward to upon arrival in turkey is a visit to one of the many barbers shops, where you will get a haircut, massage, a shave and a wash all for a few pounds, it is absolutely unforgettable.

we can also arrange for you 3 or 6 day fixed tours which would include a meal (min 12 people)
trips can include mountain treks, fishing, bird watching, thermal and mud baths, turtle beach, cleopatra island, jeep safaris day trips to marmaris and much more.

one of the things i love to do when in town and before going back to the farm for the night is stop off at one of the specialist soup restaurants in koycegiz, for a tripe soup with a good helping of garlic and vinegar sauce
this not only warms me but helps me to have a really good nights sleep, it is also very good for hangovers.
of course you can opt for one of the many other soups on the menu such as kebab soup or pacha or lentil to name but a few and all made fresh on the premises

How to get there

Flights to Dalaman from uk airports are approx 4 hours
car hire can be prearranged from the airport, or is available on arrival
taxis are always available from the airport at a cost of approx 60 lira, the
journey takes approx 30 minutes

£150 per booking this must be paid in addition to the full balance 8 weeks prior to your arrival and will be returned to you within 10 days of your departure, once the condition of the house or apartment is confirmed
