The Coastal Montenegro / Boka Kotorska Fjord region
Described by the poet Byron as "the most beautiful contact between earth and sea", Montenegro is welcoming and beautiful, where sapphire blue sea meets craggy, black mountains leaving just enough room for a ribbon of coastal towns on a sweep of sandy beaches and small coves.
The Boka Kotorska (Bay of Kotor) is the single most impressive feature along the Adriatic Coast and in terms of natural beauty, it is hard to beat anywhere in Europe. Its main town, Kotor, is utterly delightful, with an enticing array of cobble-stoned streets, outdoor cafés, Venetian inspired architecture and exquisite little churches.
In addition to its natural beauty, Montenegro is developing quickly as a premium tourist destination. Marinas for mega-yachts and 5* hotels are currently under construction and the infrastructure of roads and railways are also under development. These changes mean that Montenegro is rapidly becoming more affluent and gourmet restaurants and designer boutiques are starting to appear. Some disruption can occur due to the construction work. There are sometimes power cuts and you may find yourself driving on an unfinished road. This is all part of the charm of Montenegro which you can experience now, before mega-rich prices accompany the newly built marinas.
In order to encourage tourism to the area, the Montenegrin government have banned all major construction work between mid-June and mid-September. This means that you are guaranteed a relaxing and uninterrupted summer holiday.
Kotor / Muo area
Muo is a charming waterfront fishing village, within walking distance of Kotor Old Town. It is 10 minutes drive from Tivat Airport and the superb Przno beach, described by Rough Guides as "deservedly one of the most popular along the entire coast, with gorgeous yellow sands, clean waters and excellent facilities".
The world famous Jaz Beach is just 20 minutes drive as is the postcard-perfect village of Perast which overlooks the monastery of Gospa od Škrpjela (Our Lady of the Rock), set on its own island. The iconic, glamourous island of Sveti Stefan, is just 40 minutes' drive from the apartment. All in all, this apartment provides the perfect base from which to explore the rest of Montenegro.
How to get there
Fly to Tivat from London Gatwick with Montenegrin Airlines and arrive at the apartment after a 10 minute drive. Car Hire is available at Tivat airport with Avis, Europcar and other companies.
Easyjet fly 3 times a week from Gatwick to Dubrovnik in the summer months - 70 minute drive to Kotor View. British Airways also fly from Gatwick 4 times a week to Dubrovnik.
Flybe fly from Birmingham, Exeter and Southampton to Dubrovnik on Sundays throughout the summer. Aer Lingus fly from Dublin to Dubrovnik throughtout the summer.
All major car hire operators located at Dubrovnik airport. Taxis are available from both airports and can be pre-booked at extra cost.

Further details indoors: With spectacular views from both balconies, and from the open-plan living space, you can appreciate the Boka Kotorska without leaving your apartment. The living area has direct access to both the main and side balconies. It contains a large sofa-bed, TV, DVD, iPod docking station and dining for 6 guests. The solid oak Italian kitchen has granite worktops and top of the range appliances including dishwasher, kettle and toaster.
The deluxe master bedroom has a king-sized bed and direct access to the side-balcony. The bright second bedroom has twin beds and views of the mountain to the back of the apartment. The shower-room is stylish and modern and contains the washing machine. Towels are provided for use in the apartment. Please bring your own towels for beach and pool use.
Further details outdoors: In front of the apartment is a large pool, shared exclusively by the other apartments of Kotor View. The pool terrace has panoramic bay views which can be enjoyed from your pool-side lounger. For entertaining, there is an outside BBQ area with dining table and ample seating and the lawn area has plenty of space for children to play. In addition, there is private parking for all visitors to the apartment.
All of this within a 5 minute walk of the waterfront.
The apartment and surrounding area are child friendly, however, the beautiful black mountains do mean stairs, both down from the car park to the apartment building (see photo), and from the building to the waterfront. These may be a challenge for those with pushchairs or mobility problems.
