The Coastal Montenegro / Boka Kotorska Fjord region
To quote the Lonely Planet, "At the head of southern Europe's deepest fjord, Kotor's setting couldn't be more dramatic. The fortified Stari Grad (Old Town) nestles at the foot of a high cliff and its labyrinthine streets surprise you with bars, churches and restaurants on hidden piazzas. Brooding mountains protect the whole bay and the sea is a moody indigo blue."
Montenegro is definitely the undiscovered 'Pearl of the Adriatic', and Kotor, as a Unesco World heritage site, is its jewel in the crown. Seven islands decorate the bay, and enjoying the views over a glass of vino is a must, whether in one of the many piazzas of the old town, or in one of the beautiful restaurants that surround the bay.
There are many small beaches within a 15 min drive on the Adriatic coast. Or drive in land to enjoy the mountain ranges, canyons, forests, and one of the largest lakes in Europe. There are also plenty of activities to keep you busy; white water rafting, canoeing, paragliding, mountain climbing / biking, sailing and trips in a Flying Inflatable Boat (!) are all available in the area.
Practical Information: The Climate is the same as Southern Italy, so can be enjoyed all year round. Whilst the "season" is considered to be May to September, the other months are cooler and less crowded so can be just as enjoyable. The currency is Euro.
Kotor / Muo area
Kotor is a historic city of traders and sailors, and its medieval architecture and cultural monuments have made Kotor an Unesco listed "World Natural and Historical Site". Its narrow cobbled streets twist and turn, and constantly provide a hidden treasure to be discovered. The Old Town is traffic free, and can be both peaceful and lively; enchanting & bustling by day with its array of cafes, restaurants and shops; romantic by evening, and lively at night ,with plenty of bars to visit. Regular carnivals and fiestas also add to the charm of this beautiful, walled town.
There are also many beautiful villages and towns to visit, all within less than an hours drive. There is Sveti Stefan, the choice resort for the rich and famous; Perast, the unspoilt, venetian town overlooking the picuresque monastery of Gospa od Škrpjela (Our Lady of the Rock), set on its own island; or Budva, the racier, vibrant town right on the beach.
Or if you perfer to stay local, you could stroll along the waterfront and admire the yachts, take a boat trip or take part is the many watersports on offer. Or, just find yourself a quiet jetty and soak up the sun!
How to get there
Flights: The nearest airport to us is Tivat, which is just 3km from our apartment. Montenegro Airlines fly to Tivat direct from Gatwick three times a week during off-peak season, and every day during the summer months.
Another good option is Dubrovnik, Croatia. Whilst it sounds far, it's only a 70 km journey and the drive could not be more simple. There are more airlines that fly into Dubrovnik (Easyjet, British Airways, Croatia Airways, ThomsonFly , FlyBe etc) so you can find cheaper flights than the Tivat route (though in summer the roads may be busy, and the journey from Dubrovnik could be slow).
Car Hire: All the usual car hire companies (Eurocop, Sixt etc) are all available at Dubrovnik & Tivat, and can be booked on line. When booking, do check they are happy for the car to be taken over the border, and remember, car headlights have to be switched on at all times in Montenegro, day or night.
The Drive From Dubrovnik: Turn left out of Dubrovnik airport and keep driving over the border, straight through town of Herceg Novi (all on the same road) until you see the sign for a Ferry, and a lane filtering off to the right. Take the little car ferry over (about 15 mins and EUR 4), then turn left again and keep going. After driving through about 2 villages, you will arrive in Muo, which is clearly sign posted. We will give you more detail / landmarks etc upon booking.
The Drive From Tivat: Turn right out of the airport, then turn first left (sign posted to Kotor via tunnel). You will get to a roundabout, then turn left and you will reach Muo in a couple of minutes. Takes about 10 minutes!
Other options: Upon request, through our local agent we can arrange for transfers to and from the airport for you. Altough taxis are available, they may prove to be more costly / more time consuming (!) than hiring a car.

Although the flat itself is child friendly, the bay area is surrounded by mountains, and as such there are stairs down from the carpark to the building, and from the building to the waterfront that may be a challenge for those with pushchairs or mobility problems. That said, we are happy to accommodate families with young children if you are happy with the stairs!

Guestbook for Kotor View
"Your apartment is really lovely with the most amazing views "
"We really enjoyed the location overlooking the bay - great after a busy day out. The apartment was lovely and good to have two balconies. Overall, it was a great two weeks "
"Just to say, we had an absolutely fantastic time in Kotor and really loved your apartment. Everything about it was perfect, the way it was furnished, the location, the pool, everything! We definitely didn't want to leave and I have already recommended it to some friends who are thinking of going to Montenegro."
"The apartment is great and the view is spectacular."
"I wanted to tell you how pleased we have been with your apartment. It was really fantastic. Especially because when we've arrived in Tivat, our suitcases were still in Belgrad! Fortunately, we got them back the day after, but arriving in a place with just nothing, I must tell you that we really appreciated to be in a so well equipped place; Thanks for everything!"
