Home description

This traditional stone house is approached via a short, winding path beyond the beautiful village church. Villa Primavera has 3 unconnected twin bedrooms (each with en-suite shower), kitchen, living/dining room, 2 terraces and a large grass area in front. The house is not overlooked, and has a spectacular 120 degree view of the sea, Turkey and nearby islands. Having lunch at a table on the front of the grass, looking at the breathtaking vista (at that point nearly 180 degrees), is a magical experience.

Within walking distance are the pretty villages of Evagalistria, Zia and Lagoudi. The nearest beach, Tigaki- with acres of white sand - is only about 12 minutes by car or scooter.

The pervading atmosphere is one of tranquility but only 20 minutes away by car is the bustling, cosmopolitan town of Kos with its archeological sites, C15th Crusader fortress, beautiful boat-lined harbour, and intriguing variety of shops, restaurants and night clubs.

The Aegean Islands region

With abundant spring water, Kos normally remains verdant throughout summer. It has noticeably more market gardens, vineyards, trees and shrubs than less fortunate neighbouring islands. It also boasts several vineyards, two of which are on the slopes below Assomatos. They produce good wines.

At its closest, the Turkish coast is only about 3 miles away and boat trips to Bodrum are very popular, particularly on market day. A day trip to the contrastingly arid island of Kalymnos, famous for its natural sponge, is another rewarding experience.

Kos / Assomatos area

Kos is known as the Market Garden of the Aegean and Assomatos, high up in the centre of the island, is surrounded by green, undulating landscape and forests particularly suited to walkers and mountain bikers. The village and its environs are still frequented by kindly, simple Greek folk who are often the proud owners of donkeys, goats, turkeys and hens.
The church in the village is hundreds of years old and is richly decorated. There are quite often weddings, religious celebrations and festivals in this and neighbouring churches.
Neighbouring Zia has many shops selling local produce and traditional Greek gifts. It also has numerous restaurants, including the outstanding Oromedon where Bill Clinton and other luminaries ate in 2003.
There are numerous other locations to visit where you can get away from the tourist crowds - like Tam Tam. This laid back bar and restaurant is 25 minutes away and is set amid palm trees overlooking a beach. It plays cool music and serves great food to a sophisticated clientele. We can recommend other such venues which are unknown to mass market tourists - where you can see the real Kos and simply relax.
There are also many noteworthy archaelogical sites on the island, some in the middle of Kos Town itself. Of particular interest are ruins of the Asklepion hospital (C3rd BC) where Hippocrates taught. A minaret and Italianate buildings in the market square of Kos Town reflect the Turkish and Italian occupations.
Beaches are generally sandy and it is still possible to find remote, uncrowded coves. Water sports available include sailing, wind-surfing, water-skiing and jet-skiing.

Guestbook

In spite of the quality of the fresh air at this altitude, the extraordinary views were quite breathtaking!
