The Aegean Islands region

Kos is the second largest island in the Dodecanese chain of islands in the Aegean. It lies about 5 miles from the Turkish coast, about 2 miles south of the Greek island of Kalymnos and 2 miles north of the volcanic island of Nissyros.

The First Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, was born in Kos, and the Hippocratic Oath is still taken by newly qualified doctors today. There are many interesting archaeological sites from early Greek and Roman times through to the times of the Crusaders.

May to October is the dry season, usually enjoying wall to wall blue skies and sunshine, with a cool north breeze.

Kos

Kefalos is at the south west end of the island and is by far the most tranquil of the coastal villages.

Kamari Bay is renowned for good windsurfing because of the constant off shore breeze. Windsurf and sailing schools, powered watersports and sunbeds are available for hire on the beach.

Local hotels offer free use of their swimming pools. There are plenty of tavernas and restaurants to suit most tastes and budgets.

Festivals include that of St John, Panayia and the Honey Festival, all held in August.

"Stunning property in fabulous location"

This is an individually designed house, offering 8 en suite bedrooms all with balconies and sea views. There's a light airy living area and separate but connected dining area with direct access to a stunning sun terrace in addition to a roof terrace to ensure your sun tan. The large kitchen has everything you need if you want to self cater but there's plenty of choice of local reasonably priced restaurants.
It's an easy 30 minute stroll down to the sea but you will need a car if you want to make the most of Kos, as there's lots of interesting places to visit.
The local beach is sandy and safe, ideal for children. Clear blue water, plenty of water sports and it's an easy swim across to the little off shore island.
The Tower House makes an ideal place for a holiday with friends or extended family for a special occasion or just to relax. It's a quiet location but not remote. Can't wait to visit again.

"Fantastic, well appointed, private accommodation with amazing views"

We were a group of 6 adults staying in the Tower House for a week in September 2012. The welcome on arrival ensured we felt at home straightaway. The accommodation is very spacious and clean with every bedroom having en-suite facilities. The well appointed kitchen has almost every gadget/appliance you could need!
The location is brilliant for a secluded and private stay but within easy access to local amenities. Transport is recommended to ensure you are able to enjoy the surrounding areas.
We would have no hesitation in staying at the Tower House again having enjoyed our holiday there immensely.
A big THANK YOU to Roger and Fliss for a wonderful stay.

"A most enjoyable holiday"

Relaxing and comfortable holiday with a small group. Self catering, so varied between eating in & out. Bedrooms comfortable, clean and spacious (and best of all, paper friendly toilets!!) Main rooms well furnished with lovely views; large balcony for relaxing or eating outdoors. Not too far from beach (at 70 yrs old I was well able to walk there, swim and walk back!). My first visit to Greece would love to go again! Lots of interesting places to visit.

"Breathtaking"

From our initial enquiry to the end of our holiday and beyond, we were met with warmth, helpfulness, and generosity. Nothing was too much trouble for Joyce the House Manager who made us feel very welcome. We stayed on a B&B basis. Breakfast was fruit, cereals, toast, juice.
The Tower House took our breath away! It was way beyond our expectations. Originally built as a Christian Retreat an atmosphere of peace and love was very evident.Everywhere was scrupulously clean and each room very attractively decorated in keeping with a chosen quality. Our room was named JOY and so everything in the room reflected Joy. The rooms were spacious, the views from the balcony splendid and a larger terrace off the dining room with swing hammock provided extensive panoramic views .
The roof terrace with entrance to the round tower provided a place for quiet contemplation. Wifi could be a bit temperamental but mainly it worked from the principlal . However there are several intenet cafes in Kefalos so logging on was not a problem.
From The Tower House a path winds it's way down to the beach. This may be a little steep for the less active but we enjoyed the walk which seemed shorter the more we walked it!
The gardens would not be suitable for the disabled but with a ground level large terrace this need not be a problem.
A car is essential.
Short drive to some superb serviced beaches.
Kefalos is pretty with a good selection of places to eat. It is not too noisy, but friendly and fairly quiet.
