Villa Nopa, Koroni, Peloponese
Availability Your dates are available
Apartment | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
This little gem is in the heart of the tiny seaside town of Koroni in South West Greece. Unusually for a property with all the convenience of a town where everything you need or want is within walking distance, there is outside sitting space with views of the harbour and the headland. There are three beaches and a castle to explore with beachside or harbourside tavernas and bars to enjoy.
The self contained apartment is the top half of a house which, because of the hill, is at ground level at the back! It is half way up the hill from the sea and is accessed via a steep lane or steps so is really not suitable for wheelchair users; sorry. There is a parking area which is shared with next door and terraces on both sides so you can sit out in sun or shade for most of the day.
Inside there is an air conditioned living room with kitchen, a bedroom with double bed and 2 single beds in a 'sleeping loft'. The sleeping loft which is open to the living room on one side, has limited head height at the edges and is accessed by quite small stairs. Children love it; adults need to take care! There plenty of storage space and a modern shower room.
There are busses along the East of the peninsula to Kalamata throughout the day but to explore the West side of the peninsular or the ancient sites of Olympia and Mycenae you will need a car.

About this location
The Messenia Region
Lovely little town with 3 safe beaches with the possibility of good snorkeling. The castle is more like a fortress with churches and cottages within its walls. Entry is free. Zaga beach is a turtle breeding area which asks for care but adds interest to your visit. For those people with a car the nearby resorts of Finekounda and Methoni are worth exploring as is the nature reserve near Pylos. Koroni is definitely an area for a lazy chilled holiday. Food in the many tavernas is reasonable. You can still get two courses for two people for under €20! In the summer months there may be boat trips to nearby islands, evening events usually involving music and dance in the square and the Sunday market.
The climate is as you would expect in Greece. Hot sunny and dry summers, fairly dependable from April to the end of September. In March and October you will need a jacket in the evening and the occasional use of a raincoat. When it rains, it really rains! The winters can be cold.
. For those people with a car visiting the ancient sites including Olynpia, the home of the olympics and Mycenae, home of King Agamemnon are both possible in a (long) day trip. The Mani peninsula is also worth a look. It is much rockier than Messinia which has rolling hills and a great variety of wild flowers. The busier town of Stoupa is a car is there, a favourite for people on a package holiday. There is no package tourism in Koroni which is one of the ways it has retained its charm.
