The Dubrovnik Riviera/Islands region
The south-Dalmatian island of Korcula stretches parallel with the nearby mainland in the west-east direction. It is 46.8 km long and is the sixth largest Adriatic island. The Peljesac Channel, which separates it from Peljesac peninsula, is 1,270 m wide at its narrowest point.
The island of Korcula has pebbled beaches and many little inlets that provide you with a warm and tranquil atmosphere. Korcula is one of the most wooded islands on the Adriatic. It is a typical Mediterranean area with various sorts of flora: cypress, pine, olive, oak, and myrtle. Indigenous herbs and aromatic plants also grow on the island: sage, rosemary, lavender, mint, marjoram etc. The old Roman version of the name Korcula was Corcyra Nigra, the ancient Greek version was Corcyra Melaina, both names refer to the dense pine-woods of the island.
Korcula Old Town is a medieval walled city positioned on a oval-shaped swelling of land pointing deep into Peljesac Channel. The city itself is arranged with a succession of narrow streets branching off the spine of the main street like the bones of a fish. The town of Korcula is well known for Moreska – a traditional sword dance and drama that was common through out the Mediterranean in 12th and 13th century, reaching Korcula in 16th century from Italy and Dubrovnik. The golden period for Korcula was between the 13th and 15th centuries, when the old town's present form was acquired through the construction of important buildings; most of these can still be seen today. It was during this period that the Venetians left its distinctive mark on Korcula’s culture and architecture, which has been well preserved for future generations.
Korcula / Tri Luke area
Villa Katy is located in Tri Luke which is on the west side of Korula island and has many inlets providing a tranquil environment. Surrounded by a crystal blue sea, fig trees, olive groves and traditional terraced vineyards giving visitors the classic Mediterranean experience in a year round, mild warm climate.
The pebble beaches and calm seas surrounding the island are inviting, alluring and ideal for exploring, fishing and boating as well as abundant snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities to see the beautiful underwater sites. Nearby is a large native pine forest, suited for hiking and mounting bike riding during the entire year.
The nearest shops and restaurants are in Vela Luka which is only 9.5km away. There are plenty of restaurants offering good traditional food with local wine; after dinner, stroll among the bars and listen to local musicians.

Guestbook for Villa Katy
Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. Date Submitted: September 13, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008 A wonderful villa, perfectly situated on the end of a promontory in the sleepy coastal hamlet of Tri Luke. The villa was peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by sea on three sides. The only real neighbours were the occasional yachts mooring overnight nearby!
Katy was a great host and gave a great welcome. She has high standards and takes pride in a clean, tidy and well maintained property. Everything you could want is there and more.
The villa’s biggest asset was its access to the sea. When booking we initially had reservations about the lack of swimming pool, but with your own bay who needs one! The private pebble beach was fantastic – there was a gentle shelving pebble section which was ideal for our two year old who was able to paddle with minimal supervision.
We hired the villa’s boat for a day and cruised the local coastline which was wonderful. The sea kayaks in the villa were also great for exploring the relatively sheltered waters of the bay. Walking was also good and we spent a morning wandering the local woodland. It looked like you could walk for miles if you so wished.
There is a small restaurant nearby although we did not try it. There is a wider choice of restaurants and bars in Vela Luka which was about 15 minutes’ drive away. We ate out a few times and the food was very good and reasonably priced. You also have the option of three outside dining areas at the villa itself – we used a different one for each meal! The supermarket in Vela Luka had everything we needed.
There is so much to do around the villa you may not want to leave, but we really enjoyed a day out to Korcula Town – a beautiful historic walled town with stunning views and great restaurants.
We would recommend this villa to anyone!
