About this location
The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region
The Mediterranean coast of Turkey, also known as the Turquoise Coast, is 1600 km long, with many fine sandy beaches and ancient ruins, all set to the dramatic back-drop of the Toros Mountains, whose cliffs plunge into the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. There are very few places in the world with such breathtaking scenery. The coastline has much to offer, unspoilt beaches, timeless fishing villages, virgin forests, ancient ruins, bustling towns and luxury villas in Turkey’s finest holiday destinations.
There are many magnificent resorts along the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, and Alanya, provides an ideal base to explore the area, with its rich array of Roman and Greek ruins, caves, canyons, waterfalls and unspoilt beaches.
The tourist season is one of the longest in Turkey, with average sea temperature of 26 degrees; so for almost 6 months a year; you can arrange that barbeque, without needing to check the weather forecast. Often in May and June, whilst sunbathing on the beach, you can look at the snow on the peaks of the Toros mountain range. In some months you can swim, play golf and ski all in one day.
If you decide not to hire a car the dolmus (bus) is a very reliable and inexpensive alternative. The bus terminus is less than 100 metres from Palm Villas and the buses leave every five minutes.
Konakli - 2km from Palm Villas. It has an abundance of shops and restaurants. It is mainly pedestrianised. Wednesday is market day - here you can buy fresh fruit and veg, meat, spices, eggs etc and all the 'branded' clothing, handbags and sunglasses.
Try one of the many restaurants - some, patronised mainly by the locals, don't sell alcohol but the food prices are very reasonable and it's a great way to try out authentic Turkish fare.
Alanya - 15k from Palm Villas (10 minutes by bus or car) Alanya is a very large resort boasting hundreds of shops and restaurants.
It has two expansive beaches, one either side of the castle peninsula. Sun beds and shades can be hired at a cost or you can take your own.
Alanya is a very historic town, dating back 2500 years, with lots of places of interest. Take a trip up to the castle and enjoy the breathtaking views and take a tour round the Red Tower which is steeped in history.
If you prefer, spend the day in the water park which is situated in the middle of the town.
The harbour is worth a visit. Lots of shops, restaurants and night clubs.
Avsallar - 3k from Palm Villas - boasts some of the best beaches in the area
Incekum - 4k from Palm Villas - again, a wonderful beach - well worth a visit.
Side - A 45-minute journey away, is a very historic town with an splendid amphitheatre, which is well worth a visit. Side also has a very pretty harbour.
•Alanya harbour and museum
.New Alanya Marina
•Dim Cay river swimming and river restaurants
•Boat and gullet trips

"Perfect holiday, would go back year after year."
We stayed here with our two children for two weeks during the summer last year. The whole holiday was just perfect. The location of the villa is ideal, right by the bus station (very cheap to get on a bus), just accross one road to the beach (with a lovely beach bar there, nice food too), nearby to the local town where you can buy cheap food, clothes, etc. The villa was part of a group of villas that are all looked after incredibly well by the grounds-men, they are always there if you need them. The villa was very clean with large rooms throughout. It was ideal with the open plan area in the middle where the children could lie on the sofa to shade from the sun whenever they felt like a 'sun break' The balconies overlook both grassland and the beach with a gorgeous view of the sun setting each night which was a personal favourite of mine while enjoying a glass of wine and BBQ :)
The pool was well kept and right outside the villa. All in all we are so glad that we went self catering in this villa and have booked again for this year.
It was perfect :)
