The Chania Prefecture region

The house is in the Chania region of Crete. This is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful and unspoilt ares of Crete. The local beaches and coves are easily accessible and are quiet and family friendly. Almirida and Kalives have clean sandy beaches and lots of cafes and restaurants. There are many historical sites including a roman fort at Ancient Aptera, and a mosaic in Almirida. The immediate area is popular with walkers and cyclists. Further afield, the famous Samaria Gorge (the largest gorge in Europe and a terrific day out) is within driving distance. Chania itself, the ancient capital of the island, is a 40 minute drive, with easy parking and fantastic shopping, including the famous "leather lane". Chania also has a lovely old, Venetian harbour, a war museum, terrific alfresco cafes and restaurants, and nightlife!. A trip to the ancient site of Knossos takes about 2 hours, but the effort is well worth it. About an hour away is "Limnopoulis", a great water park for the kids. The villa has a number of travel guides and historical books about Crete.

Kokkino Chorio

Kokkino Chorio is a small village with two tavernas and a mini market. There is a renowned glass factory with a shop, selling souvenirs and collectables made from recycled glass. Bigger towns include Plaka, Almirida and Kalives, ideal for shopping and eating out. Almirida has a lovely, blue-flag beach, with watersports and boat trips, as well as some great restaurants and small shops, so is great for a family day by the beach.

"The Best"

The most amazing place I have ever stayed. The accommodation is perferct - the location is more than perfect - the view is stunning. You can not find anything wrong with this villa. This was our first time to Crete and we have already booked for 2013 and are planning our 2014 holiday. Perfect. perfect. perfect. Visit this island, this villa and find your heaven on earth. x

"Between sky and sea."

Marvellous vievs, superb localization in the countryside neighbourhood . Villa equipped comfortably. We enyoyed pool arranged in very interesting way - the surface of the pool's water seems to merge with sea. We spent many romantic nights admiring starry sky. We've had great holiday and I would definately recommend this villa to my friends.

"Absolutely fabulous!"

This villa is hard to fault, from the stunning views to full facilities and fabulous pool. The hardest decision to make was which sun terrace to sit on to enjoy the view. Our teenagers appreciated the use of an x box, dvd and book library. A very quiet spot but still easy to walk to the local village and tavernas. Many an hour was passed watching the world go by and the binoculars provided a chance to watch the planes, birds and boats. Great fun! Despite 30c+ temperatures every day, the location usually had a welcome cooling breeze. We won't be recommending this villa to family and friends on the basis that we want to make sure it's available for us again!
