Seafront Suite Three
House | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 3
Welcome to Mango Houses – a collection of authentic, Chinese-style wooden pole suites and villas that have been converted into stylish, over-the-sea rental homes. Each of our vacation units is located directly over the ocean in an old Chinese fishing village named Lanta Old Town on Koh Lanta Island in Krabi, Thailand.
The 50-sqm Seafront Suite Three (originally called the Honeymoon Suite) features a sea breeze and fan-cooled, waterfront bedroom;studio-style with a small private balcony located directly over the sea with a double and single bed.
Inside, this renovated and modernized pole house has original teak wood floors with a kitchenette with a fridge, coffee machine, hot water dispenser and toaster and an accompanying western-style bathroom with hot water.
Located two hours from Phuket on the southern-most side of the Phra Nang peninsula, Krabi Province is characterized by breathtaking, 1000-feet limestone pinnacles jutting from the earth. The rugged, jungle terrain spreads down the inland coast to Trang Province and also covers over 130 islands.
Koh Lanta Island is situated in the safe, mid-southern Thailand province of Krabi on the Andaman Sea, just 70km (1.5 hours' drive) from Krabi International Airport. Koh Lanta (Yai), the main tourist island, is one of Southeast Asia's beaches feature over fastest growing tourist and vacation home destinations with 10 great beaches.
Lanta Old Town, also known as Sri Raya (in Thai), is located on the nature-rich, southeast coast of Koh Lanta, only 15 minutes away from the beaches and tourist areas on the west coast — yet far enough to allow the village to retain its traditional culture and charm.
The people in Old Town, originally the island's main trading center, are fishermen families who have lived in the town for generations. The area is a study in cultural diversity with three distinct groups of people – the seas gypsy people of the Urak Lawoi clan, Thai Muslims and Thai Chinese – coexisting in harmony for over 200 years.
Today, the fishing village has taken on a 'bohemian' feel in the day when tourists from the other side come over to explore some of the island's funkiest shops, restaurants, cafes and bars.
The town has limited accommodations, but there are several villa rental options and a few bed and breakfasts. There is also now a small community of foreigners that call Old Town home and many visiting boats moor in the safe harbor.
The seaside homes – typically called Pole Houses – are built on stilts directly over the water and overlook an incredible harbor view and an array of small tropical islands in the near distance. The sunrises and sunsets are famous among locals in this sleepy late night town that hosts the annual Lanta Lanta Festival in March.
