Cottage | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2

Key Info

The Creamery is a lovely 1 bedroom former creamery beside the owners' 18th Century farmhouse. Situated at the top of the attractive grey stone village of Kniveton, the cottage is fully equipped with everything the holidaymaker could want.

With a barbecue and outside seating area, the cottage has shared use of the owners' spacious gardens, which contain fruit trees and seating as well as a pretty stream with wooden bridge over.

The local pub The Red Lion is within walking distance and serves good, home-cooked food.

The charming little church is next door, famous for its tower and font, both dating back to the 13th Century.

Miles of public footpaths cross the rolling fields all around, and there are many walks starting from the front door.

Carsington Water is just up the road, with its visitors centre, miles of footpaths and children's play area to explore. Beautiful Dovedale, famous for its stepping stones, and Black Rocks Country Park are a short drive away.

Not forgetting the UK's premier theme park, Alton Towers which is 20 miles away.

Our favourite places to visit include antique shopping in Matlock and Wirksworth; ascending to the Heights of Abraham by cable car in the old Victorian spa town of Matlock Bath; and cycling the path of the old Ashbourne to Buxton railway line along the Tissington Trail.

The cottage itself has one double bedroom, a well-appointed kitchen diner and comfortable living area with a selection of books, games and DVDs. Fresh bread, home-made biscuits and other provisions are provided for guests on arrival.

Ample private parking, including secure garaging on request, make this an ideal holiday choice.

The Derbyshire region

Derbyshire offers beautiful towns, stunning countryside and a traditional English friendliness and genuine interest in the people who visit.

From stately homes like Chatsworth House to quirky arts festivals, such as Wirksworth, we have something for everyone. Theatres, art, music and the premier theme park in the country (Alton Towers). Both premiership football and championship football are within easy reach.

Farmers markets galore with delicious cheeses, meats, jams and cakes offer good food at reasonable prices and help to preserve the local economies.

Kniveton

Kniveton is a small village which offers a great base for discovering the area. Close to Ashbourne, Wirksworth, Matlock, Bakewell which all offer good days out including fantastic food and a vast array of antique shops.

Sailing, windsurfing and bicyle hire are very close by at Carsington Water. Golf courses are dotted all over the region and offer a warm welcome to all who play.

Arts festivals and classical music can be found in many small festivals throughout the year. Bijou cinemas in Wirksworth and Belper offer a classic cinema experience from days gone by .
