Ffrydd House is a spacious, elegant 200 year old town house with many beautiful period features, set in the typical border market town of Knighton.
The town is located directly on Offa's Dyke and the lovely surrounding countryside makes it ideal for walking, cycling and outdoor activity holidays. The town is home to the Offa's Dyke centre, with its fascinating display of the history of the Dyke and the border area, as well as extensive information on activities in the area. Close to the town are the Spaceguard Centre and the Judges Lodging at Presteigne. The pretty towns on Montgomery, Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Leominster and Llanrindod Wells, with their interesting architecture, wide range of shops and pubs and restaurants, are within a short drive of the town.
Through most of the year, there is a wide range of events to enjoy in the area, from the Hay Festival and Royal Welsh Show to local farmer's markets and Knighton's own Serendipity Festival.
The rockery overlooks the huge sun trap terrace.
The pretty garden has a lawn surrounded by flower beds and old stone walls.

Knighton is located on Offa's Dyke, the historical border between England and Wales. The Offa's Dyke Centre is in the town, 5 minutes walk from the house.
The Spaceguard Centre is just outside the town. The scenery immediately around the town and further away is spectacular, with Welsh moors and mountains only a few minutes drive from the house.

Ludlow has a number of festivals, including the famous food festival. Hay-on-Wye festival is just over 1 hour away. Victorian spa town Llandrindod Wells is less than half an hour away.
The cathedral cities of Hereford, Shrewsbury and Worcester are each within 1 hour's drive.
How to get there
Knighton is on the Welsh/English border, West of Ludlow/Leominster. Shrewsbury is to the North and Hereford to the South. Nearest airports are Birmingham, Liverpool, Cardiff, Bristol, Manchester, all within about 2-2 1/2 hours drive. Heathrow is about 3 hours drive.

Downstairs are the large sitting room with patio doors to the terrace and equally large dining room. Both are high ceilinged rooms, with period fireplaces and have seating for 8 people. The spacious farmhouse kitchen is well equipped for cooking on the 5 ring gas hob, eye level and Rayburn, which also keeps the kitchen cosy in winter. There is also a dining table and chairs for casual family meals.
The elegant wooden staircase leads to a light and airy library area on the first floor, with armchairs and a view over the garden and surrounding countryside, as well as an attractive inglenook fireplaces and plenty of books to borrow. The 4 bedrooms each sleep 2 people (3 have double beds and 1 has twin beds - one of the double rooms is very small!). There are also 2 bathrooms, one with Victorian style roll top bath and the other with a spacious walk in shower. There is also a cloakroom in the entrance hall downstairs.
The furniture has been specially chosen to suit the style of the house and combines elegance with practicality. For safety reasons, none of the fireplaces can be used although the Rayburn is in full working order for heat and cooking. The house has full gas central heating. Reasonable use of the heating is included in the rent. The house has low energy lightbulbs, reflective panels behind the radiators and partial double glazing. There is a full range of recycling containers provided.
For everyone's health and comfort, the house and garden are completely non-smoking and no animals may be brought to the property. The house is not suitable for children.
Further details outdoors: Outside there is a garden, a large terrace and spacious parking, all behind large solid wooden gates which give access to the street. The large south facing terrace has tables and chairs and a barbecue, perfect for al fresco dining - ideal in summer for long, lazy lunches or dinners.

All bedlinen and towels are included and the beds are made up with duvets for arrival. Guests are asked to leave the house clean and tidy.
