"Beautiful Cottage, Beautiful Location, shame about the bees"
Me and my boyfriend stayed at The Wainhouse Cottage in July last year. We stayed for a week and had a wonderful time. Booking was simple and Chris was extremely helpful. All the cottages (3) were very popular and although the Wainhouse was not our first choice I was extremely happy when we arrived.
The Cottage was a lovely 15th or 16th century affair; with lots of character. I think the maximum number of people was 4, there was only two of us so it was very spacious. However, there is plenty of room for 4 people. There are two double bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. One had a bath and one had a shower. The bath was an ok size but did not have a shower head, and the shower was far too powerful and borderline painful.
Every room in the Cottage was equipped with more than adequate facilities. It had absolutely everything you could think of: dish washer, fridge freezer, washing machine, full selection of cutlery, plenty of towels, tissues, DVD's etc.
The Cottage is in a beautiful location, set on a huge farm and it had its own private garden. There is also a private hot tub which was amazing. The farm is based about 15mins from the local village. It is a lovely little village with lots of local shops.
Overall, we had a wonderful time. Just one problem. If you do not like bees and/or wasps this place is not for you. I know its a farm, I live down the road from one, but they were absolutely everywhere. There also seemed to be a nest in the roof of the Cottage. I could not open any of the doors or windows due to the amount of them. I could not even sit in the private garden for more then 10mins. There is a national park in the village where we spent our days, which gave us a break from the wasps and bees.
Apart from the flying monsters, we had a wonderful week. I would love to go back but I just cannot stand the amount of wasps and bees. But if you can put up with it then you will have an amazing time.
Sorry about the bees just one of those things last summer.
No bees now :)
