The Lapland region
Lapland is one of the provinces in Finland. Whether you love peace and quiet, or whether you have an active or cultural holiday in mind, you can find it all in Lapland. Lapland enjoys a continental climate typically with snowy winters and quite warm summers due to the Gulf Stream. The seasonal changes are quite distinct and strong in Lapland. The seasons are spring, summer, autumn and about six months of winter. In Lapland it is easy to forget the hustle and bustle and let the mind unwind while enjoying the summer midnight sun or Northern Lights in the winter. The culture of Lapland is broadly understood as the way of life and how to make a living. The nature of Lapland, enterprises and the sources of livelihood form an important part of that cultural background, which the people of Lapland, especially Sami people, build their identity in this magical world.
Kittila / Levi area
Levi is the most favourite travel destination in Lapland and is often referred as Aspen of Europe. Levi can proudly present 44 versatile and challenging ski slopes. In November Levi hosts the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup creating an atmosphere of international sports event. In winter you can go on a safari with a snowmobile, snowshoes, or on a sled drawn by huskies, horses or reindeer. You can treat yourself in a spa, sauna or mud treatments, or if you look for something extreme, why not try e.g. ice-fishing or ice swimming! For kids there is also a Kid's Land with activities for every day of the week and let's not forget our very own Santa Claus!
Summer in Levi offers versatile outdoor activities from hiking, cycling and fishing to golfing on a 18 hole golf course. You can also go horse riding, visit the reindeer park, or spend an exciting day out in an Adventure Park with lots to do for both adults and children.
This lively village in the middle of the fells offers comprehensive services all-year. For more information, please visit www.levi.fi.
