The Florida / Orlando Disney Area
Villa Marie is in Kissimmee, Florida's Osceola County. The history of Kissimmee dates back to 1881 when Hamilton Disston changed Florida's future when he brokered a deal to drain two million acres of swampland spanning from present day Orlando to Lake Okeechobee. As part of the agreement, Disston purchased four million acres for one million dollars making him the largest landowner in the world at that time.
Temperatures range from 70 - 100 degrees all year round, can get very humid in June/July & August Villa Marie has a swimming pool to cool off or you can enjoy the Florida sunshine poolside.
We had visited Orlando many times before we purchased our villa so we know the area really well. The most important thing we found as an holiday maker was location. Orlando is big and to pack all the activities into your holiday you want to be close to parks, restaurants and local evening entertainment. This is why we chose Indian Point, it is just off the 192 that takes you to Disney (15 - 20min drive), Universal Studios is an easy 20 - 25 min drive (depending on time of year) and the airport is only 25 - 30 mins drive. Everything you need locally is here, their is a Wal-Mart half a mile from India Point, and loads of restaurants. The designer villages are only a 15 min drive and Lake Buena Vista is about 20 min drive
Kissimmee / Indian Point area
Indian Point is situated in Kissimmee on a Deed Restricted Community giving it a safe homely feel. On this complex is a residential swimming pool, tennis & basket ball court, a lake and a children's play area. The 192 is about half a mile away form the villa, this road runs right through Kissimmee and is packed with restaurants, shopping and family fun.
Some of the restaurants include Red Lobster, Joes Crab Shack, Chillis, Bennigans, Applebeys, Friendlies, Golden Coral, Dennys, & plenty of steak houses & fast food restaurants plus much much more.
For dinner/entertainment eveings why not try Medieval Times (half a mile form villa) or Capones (about one and half miles from villa) all based on the 192.
Also based on the 192 (about three miles from the villa) is the Old Town, this has unique and unusual shops as well as restaurants and a fair ground, recently opened here is the Fun Spot that has Kart tracks.
If you fancy something with more adrenalin why not try the Sling Shot or a 300ft Swing, all at the Old Town. The 192 also has Crazy Golf (about 4 or 5) these are great fun and are based on themes, our local one (half a mile from villa) is called Pirates Cove, it has 2 courses both 18 holes with streams and a Pirates boat - these are good family fun.
Also off the 192 are Air Boats, Jet Ski's (both about 1 mile from villa) and Kissimmee Golf course ( about 3 miles from villa) all welcome visitors
How to get there
Nearest airport is orlando international - 20 mins drive time to villa. 2nd nearest airport is orlando sanford - 40 mins drive time to villa. From either airport you can hire a car from several hire companies.
