About the home

Our beautiful Holiday Cottage, is situated in a quiet Mews Lane ,just two minutes from Town Centre. It is an excellent base for shops, pubs, restaurants all within walking distance.
Unlimited WI-FI,from BT£10,payable on arrival.

Mews Lane Holiday Cottage, Kirkcudbright.

Situated in a quiet mews in the heart of historic Kirkcudbright this cottage offers a very high standard of accommodation for up to four people. It is fully double-glazed and has gas central heating. All gas and electricity costs are included in the price. Bed linen and towels are also provided. The property is non-smoking. Sorry, pets are not allowed.

The ground floor accommodation consists of a light and pleasant lounge room with comfortable leather sofas, a television and DVD player. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, freezer, washing machine, ceramic hob, double oven, microwave and dishwasher. All necessary kitchen utensils and crockery are provided. There is a shower room with shower cubicle, toilet and wash-hand basin.

The kitchen-diner and porch areas benefit from natural terracotta tiled flooring.

On the first floor there are two bedrooms. The double bedroom has a king size bed and the other has twin beds. Each has built-in storage space.

There is private off street parking for one car and further free on-street parking nearby. A lockable store for bikes, golf clubs etc is available.

Upstairs there is a King size bed with a fitted wardrobe and a dressing table,and in the other bedroom there is two single beds.

Sorry,no pets and we are a non smoking cottage.
Property suitable for 4 people and an infant in a travel cot.Highchair and travel cot on request.

There is also a small patio table and 2 chairs in the bike store .You can use the bike store for Golf Clubs,adult or children's bikes,etc.

Dumfries and Galloway is on the Solway Coast.We have plenty of coastal walks and local unspoilt beaches,also we are close to the 7 Stanes cycling trails.Other activities include a deer park,quad biking,ice-skating,chocolate factory and an ice cream factory.
Lots of wonderfull views of the quiet countryside.

The Kirkcudbright area

This historic town is situated in a small inlet just off the Solway Firth,with its working harbour,and blue flag marina the estuary can be a lively place especially in the summer months. Kirkcudbright has a variety of shops,cafes and art galleries.We have McLellans castle and the Stewartry Museum.There is also a swimming pool,tennis courts.

“late summer holiday” We live 60 miles from holiday cottage and we have stayed near Kirkcudbright since 2009. This is a beautiful area, and this cottage was ideal for our purposes. It is newly renovated and tastefully furnished & decorated. All facilities are top class. No view but it is only a short walk to harbour, main street etc. No need to use the car every day. Tesco's at bottom of Mews Lane and good local butchers, bakers, in Main street. Co-op near main car park. We usually walk a lot, along the Dee or in nearby locations. The only drawback was having to go downstairs to use lavatory during the night! Rental includes electricity, towels, bed linen so there are no hidden charges. It is ideal for two people or a family with two children, four adults might find it a bit cramped. We found a wonderful place to eat in New Galloway, Kitty's Tearoom, uniquely done out with wood panelling salvaged from an old sailing ship, and tables set with pure white appliquéd cloths and dainty china, including a bowl of lump sugar with tongs. Cakes all homemade and owner very friendly and obliging. We have booked another week in 2013. Response: Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review.

“Excellent location for golfing” This accomodaion is first class, very spacious and comfortable with everything we needed for our short stay. The decor is modern, the rooms are spacious and cosy, and we were made to feel very welcome. There were fresh flowers on the dining table and fresh milk in the fridge along with tea and coffee and biscuits which were much appreciated after our journey. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a central location for golfing as there are many excellent courses in the area. Response: Thank you so much,very much appreciated.

“Fantastic Self catering Cottage” It does exactly what it says on the tin; I stayed here with a friend on a motoring holiday and could not have found a better place to stay in the area. The cottage was warm and cosy, but spacious enough and everything you could possibly need was supplied, right down to an umbrella & shopping bag in the cupboard under the stairs. It was scrupulously clean, very handy for all the facilities that Kirkcudbright had to offer and the welcome from Mrs Davidson was a lovely start to our stay.Exceptional good value for money. “Enjoying the slower pace of life in tranquil surroundings” The property was warm and welcoming not least because of the tray of goodies to make a much needed cuppa. The owners were anxious that everything was satisfactory and made sure we knew how to contact them should we need to do so. They made themselves known but did not intrude. We liked the property because it was cosy, well equiped, nicely decorated and fuel was included in the rent. The cottage was very convenient for the town centre. There was also a bicylcle store which was useful to us. Everything you need was within walking distance of the property and no hills! This is a great place for a quiet relaxing break but there is plenty going on if you want it - choice of good eating places, local food in the shops, museum, wildlife park, lovely walks both in Kirkcudbright and within easy reach. If you are happy to travel then there is lots to see and do nearby including National Trust properties. Golf courses in plenty and not expensive. There are two supermarkets, bakers, butchers, post office, newsagents and many more small shops. Hard to say what was best but being able to get away from the rush of city life is a definite plus. There was no land to the property for a garden which I suppose is a negative though the owners have provided chairs and a table so that you can sit outside the front of the property. “Marvellous” Spent a week here and it was great. Clean!!! The kitchen was well equipped that it was no problem to cook meals in. Central location handy shops and restaurants. Plan to book again for a two week period this year. Response: Thank you for your positive feedback.
